A. J. Hawk played eleven seasons in the National Football League (NFL) before calling it quits via a podcast on January 7, 2017. The former linebacker began his football career in high school and continued through college, winning honors and deserved accolades along the way for his performances before he was drafted in the 2006 NFL Draft as 5th overall by the Green Bay Packers.
A.J. Hawk's story began in Kettering, a suburb of Dayton in Ohio, where he was born on January 6, 1984, although he was raised in Centerville, also a suburb of Dayton.
Detailed information about his family is unavailable but his parents' names are given as Keith and Judy Hawk. According to online reports, Hawk has two older brothers and their names which are given as Brady and Ryan Hawk. Brady Hawk, from what can be found online is an author/writer while Ryan Hawk is a Leadership consultant and host of The Learning Leader Show, having sought to play pro football like the younger brother but things didn't work out for him.
Hawk, however, attended Centerville High School, and even though he was only in high school, he was moved up to play in the varsity football team in his first year at Centerville High. After an impressive football career in high school, Hawk gained admission into Ohio State University (OSU) and his enviable high school football career saw the doors of the college football team fling open for him. He immediately started playing for the Ohio State Buckeyes football team under coach Jim Tressel.
It was a fruitful partnership as they won the BCS National Championship the same year he joined them (2002) as a freshman.
With his brilliant showings with the team came personal accolades, awards, and honors in recognition of his efforts. He played for the Buckeyes for three seasons (between 2002 and 2005) and he was selected into the All-Big Ten first team in all the three seasons. He also won the MVP award in the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl. He had a mention in the All-American first team in his senior season and he also won the Lombardi Award as the best college football linebacker.
The former Green Bay Packers linebacker who retired from the sports in 2017, has made considerable sum while playing for Green Bay Packers, Cincinnati Bengals, and Atlanta Falcons. He signed a 6-year deal with the Packers worth $37.5 million and his 2-year contract with the Bengals was worth $3.25 million. However, there is no definite figure on his net worth. While some sites put it at $32 million, others say it is $25 million.
As mentioned earlier, his family is only made up of his parents and two brothers. He has not mentioned having any sister and so it is not known if any exist. However, he is married to the sister of retired NFL quarterback, Brady Quinn, who played for a host of NFL clubs including Denver Broncos, New York Jets, and Kansas City Chiefs. He is currently a college football analyst for Fox Sports. In addition to college football, Quinn also analyses NFL games.
A.J. Hawk is a married man and is happily married to his college sweetheart and dancer, Laura Quinn. The lovebirds met in college and have been an item ever since. The event of their wedding came as a surprise to everyone, including their fans as Hawk and Quinn walked down the aisle just within six months of falling in love with each other. It is rumored that it was hurried so that then-rookie A.J. Hawk would sign his rookie contract as a married man which would extend certainly befits to his wife.
There seems to be an element of truth in the rumor as the initial nuptial - "shotgun wedding" - was a civil ceremony which took place on July 24, 2006, at a courthouse. A proper wedding ceremony was done a year after - on March 17, 2007. Their marriage has produced two beautiful children - a boy and a girl. Their first child, a daughter christened Lennon Noel, was born on December 4, 2010, while their son, Hendrix Knight was born a little over two years later in January 2013.
Laura Quinn is not only known as the wife of A.J. Hawk but also as the sister of Brandy Quinn, a former NFL quarterback who wore the colors of the New York Jets among others and is currently a football analyst for Fox Sports. She is also a dance teacher presently and teaches at the Edge Performing Arts Center and Millennium Dance Complex, while still dancing herself.
She started training at the age of seven. She trained at the Baltimore Country Youth Ballet where she was a star and performed so many ballet dance renditions. Her roles changed as she grew older and got better with the dance steps. She would, later on, attend the Baltimore School for the Arts and also occupied her summer with classes at the Kirov Ballet and Miami City Ballet, such was her passion to be the best. After graduating from the Baltimore School for the Arts, Laura enrolled fully into a pre-professional program at Miami City Ballet.
