Accountability is the capability to follow through with your commitments. It is when you overcome fear and be responsible for the consequences of your actions. Being accountable is recognizing the result of your decisions and the impacts it may cause then taking an action about it. It is being responsible to the duties and obligations you uphold.
This includes the willingness to commit and get your job done with all your heart. In the army, accountability includes discipline and self-control. Having such responsibilities stretch your abilities and help youВ toВ perform well in the given task.
It is also necessary to make sure everyone in your unit is safe so youВ canВ keep track of them. Accountability means being dependable, showing up to work and to appointments on time, and meeting deadlines.
Not being responsible of your equipment goes against everything you have been taught from the time you got in the army. It is against the seven army values: loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity, and personal courage.
Accountability in the army means being a hundredВ percentВ (100%)В committed. It sums up with being early all the time, submitting and following to your team leader, giving your full potential and capacity to serve and protect the country better.
Holding one's self accountable is an upright task that earns respect and credibility of those around you, for standing behind your opinions with conviction is very fulfilling. The better the organization has, the better the organization can operate. And with this, being a good soldier means being accountable of my responsibilities and duties being a servant of this country.
