Three Things I Would Like To Change In The World

If you could change three things about the world or the community what would they be? Why? Three things I would like to change in the world: water pollution in the ocean, gender inequality in the workforce, and mammal extinctions. I had chosen these reasons because they are some of the world’s most harmful things.

Water pollution has had terrible and destructive effects on the health of the Earth and surrounding conditions, which include permanent effects on the ocean's community.

People often underestimate the importance of the ocean. They don’t understand how much damage pollution has caused to the ocean and the thousands of creatures that live in it. Plastic has become a very important part of our lives. Long life is its main feature, but this very quality has also become a major problem. Its non-biodegradable nature is causing a huge environmental problem. Unfortunately, these same useful qualities can make plastic a huge pollution problem. The cheapness means plastic gets thrown out easily and its long life means it survives in the surrounding conditions for long periods where it can do great harm.

Because plastic does not rot and demands high-energy ultraviolet light to break down, the amount of plastic waste in our oceans is steadily increasing. Many celebrities made the concern known for instance; music artist Lil Dicky made a song called “Earth”. The lyrics of “Earth” center on nothing but saving the earth. Because of this, Dicky and the over 30 artists on this song encourage us to love the earth while reminding the world that Mother Earth is the only home we have.

We, therefore, must do everything within our power to take care of her and protect her. In doing so, they also shed light on the harmful effects of climate change.

A way to resolve the effects of water pollution is to treat something important as unimportant like the use of plastic bags. The Government should take encouragement in the use of fabric bags, and also charge customers money for plastic bags. For example, South Australia was the first state that executed this action. Anyway, the government resolves these problems with laws and controls the use of plastic bags. However, there are many effects due to the overuse of plastic bags that still needs cooperation to ensure a green future for future generations.

Although the plastic waste in the ocean may take a while to be cleared up, gender inequality can be changed now. Unfortunately, gender inequality is still a problem in the workplace. Women are being treated unfairly in the way that they are paid. Women are usually given the same jobs men are to do, and it is unfair that they are underpaid. In the article “Gender inequality in the Workplace” from Bloomberg.com, Ben Waber the author, says “work ethic can lead to success for women.” In this post, he suggests that if women continue to work hard and don’t give up on their justice dreams, they will start to get their point across. This may be due to the stereotype that women are not powerful enough and are too emotional to get to the point that they make the same amount of money as men, if not more. Women are still seen as the weaker sex that is unable to cope with stress in both working and male situations. Statistics show that women are paid less than men, but this persists because women aren’t as much as they should stand up for themselves. Research has shown over the past 30 years that assumptions of what men and women are capable of and how they should act are leading people to evaluate men and women differently, especially when the criteria for evaluation are ambiguous. Typically, women are subject to a higher bar, requiring more proof to qualify than men. Therefore, when people judge a woman as capable, they also find her less likable, a connection that is not true for men. In recent years, several organizations have invested money in increasing the kinds of discrimination that contribute to gender imbalance as a result of this study. The two most common approaches have been unconscious so they are based on achievement-related criteria.

Extinction is a central part of nature. Nearly 99% of all animals that have ever existed are now extinct. While the loss of ‘redundant’ species can hardly be observed, greater losses of entire populations, groups of related species, or those that share morphologies or functional attributes such as feeding mechanisms can have drastic consequences, this leads to the destruction of entire communities and the extinction of good things that change slowly over time for the better. The goal is to recognize both the causes and the consequences of destruction, and the biological characteristics that control species failure. These analyzes have generally found, first, that animals and ecosystems are being extinct or threatened at an alarming pace. Second, the extinction or decline selectivity tends to conform to theoretical standards. Species with sluggish rates of population growth, low population densities, and small geographic ranges, for example, tend to be more vulnerable to extinction. Empirical data on the risk of extinction, however, do not always follow clear theoretical lines. It is important to look at more than just the number of species lost in determining extinction and the diversity of the remaining flowers and animals in a region. This is because the random taxa loss typically has a weak effect on morphological diversity, whereas extinctions of covered may have a much greater impact. Therefore, the same taxonomic extinction severity can have different effects on the survivors’ morphological variety, and significant adaptations can be lost simply because they belonged to a tax on which there were no other characteristics, such as a large geographical range, which helped to increase extinction-resistance.

In conclusion. I believe that by getting rid of these three major issues, three things I would like to change in the world, this world will be its true self, a joyful, safe, and beautiful place to live.
