Exploring the Nature of Truth and Ultimate Reality

The Ultimate Reality Fact by definition as according to Merriam-Webster Dictionary is a judgment, proposition, or idea that holds true or accepted as real. But how as people do we know if something is real? Our understanding of what holds true in my opinion comes from multiple elements. For example, by utilizing the mind we rationalize and realistically consider circumstances we observe through our senses to comprehend how, why and if something holds true. However we do not only use one of our senses to know if something is true we utilize all of them.

We use the capability to see, taste, odor, touch, hear and apply it to our lives to check concepts to see if they hold true. So essentially we use the clinical method in our everyday lives unconsciously without even realizing it. Personally I do not utilize custom or religions as tools in looking for fact as individuals as soon as did in the pre-modern European era due to the fact that what may have been at one time viewed as "real" may not be currently based on environment, scenarios, and situations.

For example in pre-modern European times they relied rather on their senses however immensely on their Judea Christian beliefs because this is what they were informed to be real by their hierarchy. Previous thought relied more on the whole instead of the individual; there truly was no sense of "self" throughout this age. Currently Sociologist develop their ideas of valid knowledge of "what is" based upon the ideas of religious followers, thinkers, historians, and scientist.

Religious believers develop their ideas based upon faith, tradition, written scriptures and unexplained phenomena’s while Philosophers base it on abstract ideas and the unknown. Historians use both the ideas of religious believers and philosophers to develop their own truths in conjunction with more concrete evidence like artifacts, journals, etc. Scientist use the scientific method, which uses the senses to develop experiments, and history to develop valid knowledge of what is.

Although this is the way things may be seen as true it may not be the case for someone else. By using the word truth as a synonym for the word “valid” or accurate knowledge of the ways things are could become misleading since the idea of truth and what is true is relative to the individual. However, if there was to ever be an ultimate truth in the world I think French classical author Francois de la Rochefoucauld said it best : “The only thing constant in life is change. ”
