However, because of the legal system I am forced to comply with the rules I do not appreciate The concerns involve the safety and efficacy of treatment approaches, e.g. treating police officers in the unprofessional atmospheres like their homes.

The at home approach may not be as beneficial as the hospital set-upi Moreover, I find myself in ethical dilemmas of confronting colleagues, who engage in unethical or harmful conduct. The cases include the actions of corrupt police officers. Police psychologists encounter instances of dual relationships regularly, If a client is a friend of a therapist or they have other types of social relationships poses the ethical challenge. Another situation is when a client and a counselor are professional colleagues in training institutions Additionally, the psychologist may be a client’s business partner or a co-author of a book. The relationship exists if a client and a therapist go to the same mosque or church, live in the same community or have consumer cooperation, A psychotherapist may provide extra medical services, like dietary consultations or is a witness in legal trials that involve the client.

The aforementioned cases pose a dual relationship threat , in the therapeutic practice, the exploitative relationships, such as sexual encounters between the client and the counselor, are considered unethicali It is also inadvisable to cause a disruption of the therapeutic relationship due to judgment reasons. Additionally, a dual relationship that causes any form of harm to the patient, are deemed unethical. At one moment in my professional career, I was dealing with a client who claimed that a police officer had raped her because of a failed relationship. The suspect was a close friend of mine The client reported the matter to the police, but they refused to believe her and did not follow the case. Eventually, I had another client, who was a police officer that described how he raped a woman once The details coincided with the description of the same woman. Thus, 1 faced the dilemma on whether to keep the information to myself or report the case to the authorities. In order to solve the dilemma, I started with the analysis of consequences of the actions that I might take.

The approach entailed looking at all options and considering the one that produces more benefits than harmt I looked at the advantages and disadvantages of disclosing the information or withholding it. The next step involved analysis of my actions. I evaluated how they measure against moral principles and respect for the victim’s right to justice. I checked if any of the actions violates the moral principles, such as failing to disclose the information infringing the rights of the rape victim. After analyzing the actions and consequences, I made an ethical decision that works for the greater good. Summarily, people often encounter ethical dilemmas when dealing with issues like confidentiality and dual relationships The social, communal, and business encounters occur can provide dual relationship challenges Other issues like sexual relationships in the professional career are completely unethical. The solution to ethical dilemmas lies in analyzing consequences of one’s actions to ensure most benefits from the outcomes and moral relief.
