Categories: CheatingCommunication

The problem of cheating in exams is not a new problem. This problem may origin from the students' ability to cheat during exams. There are many reasons for cheating. I am going to discuss three main reasons for cheating. First of all, the main reason which leads students to cheat on the tests is that they want to get good grades. Most of students are under pressure from their family, their friends and their teachers. They are afraid that, if they get bad marks, their parents will ground them; their friends will laugh at them.

They imagine a dark future, with no good jobs, no good life.

On the other hand, if they see their classmates get high mark, and they want that fame, too.

So they do cheating as well. As a result they can get good marks but they cannot achieve a proper knowledge. Having no ability for doing the exams is the second reasons that cause some students do cheating.

From one side, students don’t have their own self-confidences, some cannot do the exams because they are too difficult for them, and some students believe that they are not well enough to pass the exams.

Instead of studying hard, paying attention to classes, reviewing lessons, and doing exercises, they try to cheat in exams.

They feel really embarrassed by cheating. Instead of this, they try to review the lessons as best as they can. So they get high grades. In contrast, students with low self-respect don’t feel ashamed of cheating on the tests.

To get good marks, they cheat as much as possible they can. They do not feel anything wrong, and only think about the result that they can get if the teacher find out his cheating. In conclusion, being under pressure for expressive scores, having no ability for doing exams and the lack of self-respect are the contributing factors to cheating in exams. In the future, I hope the awareness of students about no cheating during the test will be raised, our society which is based on workers, who are educated and having their own knowledge would develop fully.

Cheating in College Exams

The ancient Greek philosopher Sophocles wrote, "I would prefer even to fail with honor than win by cheating. " For some people, this is a completely alien concept. Cheating is a way for them to win and get what they want now. Honor and dishonor are meaningless if they win. They easily see the advantages in cheating, but often don't look at, or ignore, the potential dangers in playing by their own rules instead of society's.

According to Oxford English Dictionary, “cheat” defined as act dishonesty or unfair in order to gain an advantages. Whereas exam cheating refers to the situation where students break exam room rules and behave dishonest to their exam paper with the purpose of achieving a good result in the examination. Nowadays, students cheating during the examination become a social issue in our country. There are some reasons why students cheating during examination.

Why do people cheat? That's a good question. Why do people cheat at anything? I believe they do it because they are too lazy to exercise the brain that they have. All form of cheating like relationship or school cheatingis wrong. Cheating has its advantages and disadvantages, its also make the person achieve their desires, but does it pay off?

Like any other subject or topic, cheating has its advantages and disadvantages. Some people in college actually sell there homework and test answers for money. Therefore, when they make money and the students gets good grades then everyone is happy. They will not spend the money on the proper books or items they need to be successful doing a project that they have been assigned to do.

They would rather wait until someone else has done all the research and the work and then copy from them. While you were studying and doing all that is moral and good. They are partying and having a good time so that they may copy your efforts and take credit for an A or a grade better than they could have ever gotten on their own. The disadvantages of cheating being caught cheating on a test or copying somebody information. That lead to expulsion or getting a low grade.

In college the expense can cause life long debt and who wants to have a parent put out that kind of money to have a student drop out or just plain don't care so that they can have a life away from home coming and going doing what ever they please including cheating on test and lying. Cheating has its advantages and disadvantages but at the end of the day cheating is bad and no one should never do it . Like any other subject or topic, cheating has its disadvantages and advantages. Some people in college sell their homework and test answers for money.

They can have a life away from home, coming and going, doing what ever they please, including cheating on tests It get's a little redundant in the beginning.. I think you should cut the sentences that are unhelpful: Why do people cheat at anything? I believe they do it because they are too lazy to exercise the brain that they have. All forms of cheating, like in relationship or school, is wrong. Cheating has its advantages and disadvantages, and it also makes the person achieve their desires, but does it pays off in the long term?

That leads to expulsion or getting a low grade.

Although there are a lot of just and honest students in colleges right now others don't care about their education. Students continually try to cheat their way trough graduation. But the dilemma comes when they find out that the consequences are more significant that the grade they received.

Nowadays there are a lot of uninvolved parents, most of them don't sit with their child to help them with their homework or talk to them about the importance of school from an early age. All they care about is bringing money and food to the household; because of this children are being raised without morals and since this is the fist education they receive and is one that will impact them for the rest of their life, kids don't learn that a letter is just a letter and that the important aspect of school is what you get out of the discussions, homework, and exams.

The media doesn't help in any way, constantly coming out with movies like "Slackers" or "The Perfect Score" where a group of teenagers decide to break into the Princeton Testing Center, so they can steal the answers to their upcoming SAT tests and all get perfect scores. The main focus of these kinds of movies are people ranging from 9 to 20 years of age and most of these films are rated pg13 so many kids can go in by themselves and get these images of how cool it is to cheat and how easy it is to get away with it. So having this view present in their heads they grow with a sense that there is nothing wrong with cheating as long as you are a reasonably a good person , and a law-abiding good standing citizen.

Event ought teachers have in no way fault in the reason why students cheat on their exams professors could make it a little more difficult for students to do it, or at least get more creative with the way they provide exams.

Some students here at BCC, including myself have at some pint or another been approach by another student that is going to take the class we're in right now, and we have been asked for a copy of the exams or the scantron sheets so that they can cheat and get a good grade the next semester that they enroll in the class we're in right now. Because a lot of instructors don't give essay exams, or another type of exams students can easily get a hold of tests from students that were on the class in previews semesters. This problem although rarely occurring, does happen, and if not addressed it will allow student to keep on cheating their way though college.

First and foremost, students cheat during examination because they want to get a good score in their examination. They are cheating in order to get a good score so their friends and relatives will not looking down on them. For example, a student cheating during the examination with the aim of getting good result so he will not isolated by his friend. Students want to get result in examination because they don’t want to be punished or scolded by their parents. Moreover the students want to get good result in order to fulfill their vanity.

Lots of students have a fear of failing tests due to too high expectations from themselves or their environment, or embarrassment, or someone abusive. Numerous students or others around them set the bar too high for themselves causing fear of failure. Several students are concerned with the awkwardness of what other’s will think of them, say to them or about them. There are the few students who have to deal with someone abusive in their lives which would cause a lot of anxiety. All things considered, students with the faintheartedness of being inadequate because of intentions being too high, fear of humiliation, and dealing the fear of an abuser will cause a lot of stress and fear.

In addition, many students feel a lot of pressure, of friends and family, peer pressure as well as academic pressure causing them to cheat. Friends and Family can intentionally or unintentionally cause a lot of tension when it comes to test as well and this results in cheating to prevent disappointment of friends and family. Few students feel the heaviness of their peers to cheat because they are doing it and competiveness. Various students also feel the pressure of the educational system, because of the need of high grades to get into college.

They want the people around them to praise and feel good to them. Besides that, students cheat during examination because they are lack of high self-esteem. For students who with low self-esteem only dare to cheat during exam time. Students with high self-esteem will feel ashamed to cheat on the exam. However, students with low self-esteem do not feel embarrassed and do not feel anything wrong with their cheating behavior. These students even will feel proud with their good marks as a result from cheating during examination.

They choose the way of cheating during exam instead of trying to study hard and do revision as much as possible. In addition, peer influence is also one of the reasons why students cheating during examination. Peer is the most important factor that might influence the behavior of a teenager. Teenager likes to follow up with their friends so they are not isolated by the group. When students see their friends getting good result by cheating, they will follow the action.

Instead of studying hard, paying attention to classes, reviewing lessons, and doing exercises, they try to cheat in exams. On the other side, many students don’t have enough time for reviewing, perhaps they get ill, and they have several different reasons. The final reasons why some students cheat on their exams is because they get lack of self- respect. Students with high self-respect will never cheat. They feel really embarrassed by cheating. Instead of this, they try to review the lessons as best as they can. So they get high grades. In contrast, students with low self-respect don’t feel ashamed of cheating on the tests.

The problem of cheating can be analyzed from a lot of points of view, and there are a lot of solutions that if implemented from early childhood, reinforced while receiving a negative image of this actions (unmoral, and not cool), and also including a little help from the teachers can result in students realizing and finally deciding not to do this because it is wrong to do it and because it is really hard to do it. If students understand that what they don't learn right now may some day come up in their careers and make them look like a fool, they would not do it and they would not blame anybody for their actions because when cheating the only culpable is yourself.

Why Some Students Cheat?

The first thing to realize is that we all have cheated at one time or another, be it on a game, a test, an exam, or a quiz. The question is why do some students do it? Do they do it for the fun of it, the thrill? Most people, both young and old say that cheating is immoral, but yet they have done it at one time. Some students cheat on their tests because they did not study, fear of failing, or the pressure. First of all, students don’t study for test because they think it to be a waste of time, they did not do the work, or they did not understand the work. Some student’s think that studying for a test is a wasted effort because they did not like the subject they are in anyway. Other students decided to play hooky and chose not to do the work so they have no idea what the test is based on. There is also the student’s that do not study because they don’t understand the work and end up frustrated and upset. To sum it up, studying for some students is a lost cause, lack of accomplishment and lack of comprehension.

Furthermore, lots of students have a fear of failing tests due to too high expectations from themselves or their environment, or embarrassment, or someone abusive.

Conclusively, no matter the situation weather it be because of lack of application, a phobia, or encumbrance, cheating is unscrupulous.
