The Importance of Money for Child Development

Throughout childhood, kids learn from the environment around them, so ensuring the stability, security, and support of families is essential. It is obvious that parents should want the best for their kids and have their back along the way; however, it doesn’t always work this way. This topic is important to understand and should be put into effect in order to ensure a positive outlook for children or children-to-be. The research that will be conducted to complete this project will be library research, database research, and observations of real-life situations.

To make certain that reliable information is being used, the use of scholarly books, database articles, and scientific studies on individuals who grew up in these unjust home environments is the main goal. In order to get justice for the neglected and/or abused children and make an end to unfit parenting, we shall introduce mandatory sex ed classes, introduce parenting licenses, and fight to strengthen the justice system to legalize all vasectomy/abortion laws but never make them a requirement.

The first solution to unfit parenting is mandatory sex ed classes senior year of high school. This class will not dig deep into the sciences of sex, but rather the outcomes of sex and the consequences that come along with. This class will be a parenting 101 and will teach individuals how to raise, care for, and handle a child. The stability of the parent’s emotions, finances, and health is just as important. If an individual cannot take care of themselves, how can they take care of another human? Individuals will be taught everything there is to now about parenting and they will also have a 2-week test run.

For two weeks, individuals in the class are required to carry around a flower baby. Throughout these 2 weeks, they will have to feed the baby, tend to its’ needs, and take it everywhere as if it was a real child.

They will complete tasks of basic parent duties and see first-hand how time consuming it really is. This class will allow the individual to effectively answer the question: “What is the best interest in the child?” Individuals will learn the importance of protection, guidance, and understanding in order to ensure the child’s independence. They will learn to encourage positivity and instill emotional as well as social skills. They will learn to give the child space because sometimes that is all they need. They will learn the importance of setting a good role model for their child because for the first 6-7 years of a child’s life, they only see the life that their parents allow them to see. They have learned most of their skills from their parents because they know nothing else. They will learn to allow the child to experience failure and to do things on their own sometimes because that is the only way they will learn. Lastly, it will teach them how to ensure their child’s health. Keeping the baby well fed and taking the baby to its scheduled doctor appointments is vital to the survival of the child.

Also Introduce parenting licenses. One question that may be asked when being examined to receive this license may be: What is your criminal record in the past 10 years. Individuals who have committed outstanding and/or reoccurring crimes are not suitable to be parents. If the individual has completed therapy and can convince the issuer that they have grown from those experiences and want a better life for themselves, then there may be an exception. Another question that may be proposed is what is your monthly income? A comfortable amount that would be suitable for raising a child would be around $4,000-$5,000. Keep in mind all the other bills outside of the baby like housing, vehicles, insurance, and necessities. “Middle-income, married-couple parents of a child born in 2015 may expect to spend $233,610 ($284,570 if projected inflation costs are factored in*) for food, shelter, and other necessities to raise a child through age 17.

This does not include the cost of a college education” (Lino 1). Raising a child in a comfy home is very expensive and it is important that this is understood because it is not something one should jump into without saving money ahead of time. Other potential questions that could be asked are you in a stable relationship? Any other kids? If so, what are your relations with them? If an individual has another child who they pay no attention to and never spend time with, they probably do not need another child. Lastly, there might be a few questions about a person’s past experiences and significant moments of their life. Any individual can be denied a license if they show signs of risk towards children or just an overall lack of the emotional aspects. Individuals and couples of all types can request a parenting license as many times as desired until they receive, but they must have proof of efforts to change. This will require individuals to reciprocate more effort into these factors and eventually lead to positive changes for future families.

The last solution to unfit parenting is expanding the justice system to legalize abortion and vasectomy laws but never make them a requirement or restriction. The only way things will start looking ahead for children is when individuals can decide when or not, they want to be parents. Making the option available provides comfort to the person because if all else fails, there is this route. Individual will make their decision on their own and deserve nothing but comfort. Everyone has their own personal battles they have with themselves and this is not something that just disappears. People will feel regret and there always will be that “what if...” thought, but some things need to be done in order to avoid future problems. Examples, when this may be necessary, are a female was raped and impregnated, a male has hit 45 and doesn’t want to be able to make any more babies, or a couple is not well off financially and/or emotionally.
