The word homophobia is wrong, it’s not a phobia. It is when someone is scared of being open-minded and just ignorant of other people's beliefs. Same-sex partners deal with discrimination for all kinds of things, but them ruining the institution of marriage should unquestionably not be something talks down on them for. Same-sex marriage does not ruin the institution of marriage because same-sex spouses are providing healthy households. Healthy households are provided because they care for physical health, social well-being, they are more invested and prepare open-minded environments.
According to research done by the University of Colorado Denver and the University of Oregon, children who are raised by same-sex partners are at no disadvantage compared to heterosexual partners. “I found overwhelming evidence that scientists agree that there is not a negative impact to children of same-sex couples,” (Adams 301), a sociologist from the University of Colorado at Denver. In research found same-sex partners are favored; adolescents from same-sex parents described feeling more accepted in school.

In other research, a study showed kids who have lesbian or gay parents are more open to communicating about emotionally painful topics, and they are much more volatile, humane, and forgiving.
All kinds of parents go through the troubles of being a parent; heterosexual couples, homosexual partners, and single parents all want the same thing for their children. No parent wants to see their child grow up miserable, straight, or gay. Every parent who cares and looks for the best and only the best have problems juggling all the things that come with raising a child such as giving them a strong structure for life, while also being loving and accepting, setting the rules, teaching open and honest communication, and keeping track of the child’s social influences, and extracurricular activities.
All this being said parents no matter the gender or sexuality can provide a healthy household although it is a long road it is worth it every step of the way. Gay parents are very familiar with the social environment, they know how it feels to be judged and looked at funny for being who they are. Although not all homosexual people have gone or gone through this, way too many have and are still going through it. Having those experiences as an adult when their children start to have friends, go through experiences, be able to judge and be judged they can explain to the best they can to a young brain what’s wrong and right in children’s life. Partners can teach their children to be whoever they want to be no matter what is said or done. Life is full of opportunities and they should not be missed because a child is afraid of how society will judge them.
