Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? People should read only those books that are about real events, real people, and established facts. Use specific reasons and details to support your opinion.
All of the millions of books published over the years can be divided into two major categories: fiction and nonfiction. Although it is generally acknowledged that people should only read books about real events, real people and established facts, this can hardly held true in many real-life situations.
Similarly, I firmly believe that reading about imaginary events and people are equally important as it not only satisfies peopleâs interests but it also nurtures our creative thinking and relax ourselves.
The first and foremost advantage of reading books about unreal things is that they would satisfy readerâs diverse interests. This is especially true for young children as their logical thinking are not fully-developed at this age while their curiosities about the outer world are insatiable. As a result, unlike adults, children would certainly excite any interests over the books written about political affairs, economic crisis and social stability.
Instead, imaginary stories and novels are preferable for them as they are not only a constant amusement for young children but also a way to stick in these innocent minds heroic acts and good behaviors in life.
Another positive aspect of fictional stories is that they inspire oneâs imagination as these stories are known to be a rich source of creativity. Annually, hundreds of novels have been written about any given subject.
However, authors always have to find new ways to present the subject in order to make their stories different from others, which is the requisite skill in writing fiction. For readers, fiction also proves the fact that it is possible to put a new twist on things and be totally original. Such skills can hopefully be exercised in many real-life circumstances and in nearly any social fields, where competition is a daily activity. All in all, reading fiction certainly provoke free thoughts in life, thereby becoming an unexpected source of creativity.
In conclusion, although people are advised to read a lot of books about real events and figures due to the practical need of the society, it does not necessarily mean it is at the cost of abandoning enjoyment of reading fictional books. As far as I am concerned, the best recipe
