My grandmother's kitchen has always been my favorite place to spend summers from my early teen years back to when I was younger. There are so many joyful memories of the decorative architecture and my grandmother's delicious meals that I always adored. Every time I walked into the kitchen, I enjoyed looking around because it was a warm and familiar place that reminded me of an old-fashioned, conservative Indian kitchen. The walls and the floor were made of a mixture of mud, cow dung, and dry hay.
These natural resources gave the walls a rustic look while also making them heat and cold resistant.
During the summer, the floor felt quite cool to sit on.
The walls were hand-painted by my grandmother and she even made a wave pattern on the floor. The kitchen windows captured an amazing view of the garden from her backyard. The roof was tiled with semi-cylinders arranged in a dovetail manner. On the right side of the door, there was an open fire place called a wooden stove where my grandmother used to cook vegetables and make spiced tea for us.
Every time I walked into the kitchen, I was amazed by the view of the garden, the beautiful drawings on the walls, and the unique architecture of the kitchen.
The delicious food that my grandmother cooked there still lingers in my memory.
