J.M. Barrie was a Scottish novelist and playwright, best known for creating the character of Peter Pan. He was born in Kirriemuir, Angus, in 1860, and educated at the University of Edinburgh. His first novel, Better Dead, was published in 1887. He also wrote several successful plays, including The Admirable Crichton (1902) and Quality Street (1913). In 1929, he was made a baronet. He died in 1937.
In conclusion, J.M. Barrie was a very successful writer and playwright. He is best known for his play Peter Pan which has been adapted to film and stage numerous times. Barrie was also a very generous man, donating the copyright of Peter Pan to Great Ormond Street Hospital.
