Brooklyn is a novel by Irish writer Colm Tóibín, first published in 2009. It tells the story of Eilis Lacey, a young Irish woman who emigrates to Brooklyn, New York, in the early 1950s. The novel focuses on the themes of homesickness and identity, as Eilis must grapple with her new life in America while also longing for her home and family in Ireland. Brooklyn was shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize and won the Costa Award for Fiction. It was adapted into a 2015 film of the same name, starring Saoirse Ronan as Eilis.
