Immunisation and Vaccination

Vaccinations Definition: Immunisation is a simple and effective way of protecting yourself and your family. Immunisation works by triggering the immune system to fight against certain diseases. If a vaccinated person comes in contact with these diseases, their immune system is able to respond more effectively. This either prevents the disease from developing or reduces the severity. Immunisation not only protects your own family, but also others by helping to control serious diseases in our community.

Vaccination is safe and effective.

All vaccines undergo long and careful review by scientists, doctors, and the federal government to make sure they are safe. Benefits Of Vaccinations:- Vaccination protects children from serious illness and complications of vaccine-preventable diseases which can include amputation of an arm or leg, paralysis of limbs, hearing loss, convulsions, brain damage, measles, mumps, whooping cough, and death. If children aren't vaccinated, they can spread disease to other children who are too young to be vaccinated or to people with weakened immune systems, such as transplant recipients and people with cancer.

The goal of public health is to prevent disease. It’s much easier and more cost-effective to prevent a disease than to treat it. That’s exactly what immunizations aim to do. Vaccines are cost effective- Not only do vaccines save lives, they save money too. It is always cheaper to prevent a disease than to treat it. Vaccines are safe — Vaccines undergo rigorous safety testing prior to being approved by the Food and Drug Administraton (FDA) and are continually monitored for safety.
