Hunger Games Book Report and Plot Of The Story

Categories: Plot

In This The Hunger Games Book Report I will talk about the story where a dystopian take on a very real issue that we as humans have. It’s like Keeping up with the Kardashians, but 1000 times more deadly. The story takes place in the future United States, now called Panem. The country is divided into 12 districts (once 13 however they had destroyed the thirteenth due to too much rebellion.) each one a different class. District One and Two each closest to the capitol live in prosperity and riches.

District 12, 11, and 10 lives in dumps, surviving from day to day. Once a year, they hold a tournament where two children, one boy one girl, must fight each other to the death in an arena with live cameras in every nook and cranny. It is some sort of entertainment for upper-class districts, a painful reality for the lower-class. The winner becomes a mentor for future victims of the games. Our protagonist, Katniss Everdeen from District 12 volunteers to take her sister's place in the Hunger Games, and from that moment forward, her life was changed. The weeks before the Games she was taken straight to the Capital, where she was treated like another one of them.

She, along with the other District 12 tribute, Peeta Mellark was trained by the last District 12 winner, Haymitch Abernathy. Once the games began she played a more passive role. The higher District tributes allied together and called themselves the Careers.

While they were out trying to kill as many other victims as possible, Katniss would make camps in trees, watching, learning from above.

At one point in the Games, a hallucinatory Katniss is saved from poisonous bees by a 12-year-old tribute from District 11, Rue. They quickly become allies, however in the Hunger Games, allies don’t survive. They decided to blow up some of the supplies that the Careers had piled up. This plan needed Katniss and Rue to split up and with that choice, brought the death of Rue. This broke Katniss, however, made her even more determined to win the games, win them for Rue. Near the end of the game, the Gamemakers (the people that are always controlling the game, making it more exciting. They can add fires, earthquakes, storms all with the click of a button) change the rules and announce that two tributes from the same District can ally, and if triumphant, can be co-victors. Katniss and Peeta unite as she helps him heal from some injuries. They bond together over the next few days camping out inside of a cave. Once the moment came, they decided to go out and fight the remaining tribute, Cato, from District One. They do this by feeding him to the ravages dogs that the game makers insterted. They won the Games! They are taken out of the arena by the capitol and are taken to recovery.

Although their story doesn’t end there, the book does! I would definitely recommend it!
