Water Consumption and Water Intoxication
By drinking two eight ounce glasses of water before a meal, it will suppress our appetite which will cause us to eat less. Though there are many benefits from drinking water, there can also be potential problems from excessive consumption. Over drinking can cause excessive sweating and sleep disruption. This is because when we go to sleep, our brains release ADH, (anti-diuretic hormone), which slows down kidney function and stops us from needing to urinate at night. But if we have extra fluid in our system, it can override the effect of ADH which will cause our bladder to fill up and we’ll need to get up at night to urinate. A solution to this would be to not drink fluid for two to three hours before bed. Another problem that can arise from excessive consumption of water is water intoxication. Too much water dilutes the salts in our blood which causes water intoxication. So much water causes the kidneys to not be able to flush out the water fast enough which causes the cells to swell. Water intoxication can cause headaches, vomiting and mental disorientation, seizures, comas and potentially death. At least 14 people have died from water intoxication from a study taken in 2015.
Types of Drinking Water
There are different types of water humans can drink. These include tap, mineral, spring, purified, distilled, and sparkling water. Ph is a scale used to specify whether the solution is acidic or alkaline. Ph of 0 is totally acidic, 7 is neutral and while 14 is totally alkaline. Many people have begun drinking alkaline water because it is said to be good for you. For instance, Alkaline88 purified water uses an advanced proprietary electrolysis process also enhances its product with Himalayan salt, producing high alkalinity water of 8.8+pH.
Electrochemically Activated Water (ECA)
Purified water is enhanced with minerals and electrolytes. Our drinking water comes from lakes, rivers, streams, and groundwater. First, water is purified through reverse osmosis and put through our state-of-the-art Electrochemically Activated Water (ECA) system to create 8.8 pH water without any chemicals. The ECA process then infuses the water with 84 trace minerals and electrolytes derived from pure pink Himalayan rock salt for even better body balance. Finally, the water is purified again using ultra-violet technology, then packaged in an FDA-compliant clean room for ultimate safety. Purified water may originate from either a spring, surface or groundwater source or directly from the tap. It simply doesn’t matter. Since the purification process is designed to remove virtually all types of impurities, the quality of the source water has little bearing on the quality of the final product.
