Using Opportunities to Succeed
First, people who have effort can be successful. There is a famous quote from American inventor Thomas Edison: Genius is one percent inspiration and ninety-nine percent perspiration. It means if people want to succeed, they must make great efforts. For example, Chen Jingrun, a contemporary mathematician. He always insisted that start working at 3 o’clock every morning, in order to conquer the ‘goldbach conjecture’. He immersed in the ocean of mathematical symbols all day long. Sometimes he was so busy that he forgot to eat and rest. Finally he made the world mathematicians explored more than 200 years of brilliant achievements and became a world-class math master. What he has achieved are the result of his hard work every day. In addition, Microsoft founder Bill Gates is known for his workaholic ways, always sending emails to his staffs at night and in the early hours of the morning. He almost worked every day. Microsoft employees were convinced that none of them were as tough as gates. Eventually he became a millionaire. As a result, it can be seen that people’s efforts can make them lead to the golden road to success.
Second, good opportunities are only left to those who are work hard. Newton, is a brilliant physicist, discovered gravity when he fell asleep under an apple tree and was hit by the ripening apple. At that time, he came up with a question why an apple fall down instead of fall up. He thought of the interaction of forces from the vastness of space, the planets, the moon, to the vastness of the earth. Newton plunged into the calculation and verification of gravity. However, Newton also failed many times because of the data, but he did not give up. He studied even more harder and it took him seven whole years. He finally proved the world-famous Law of Universal Gravitation at the age of 30. LangLang, a famous pianist in China is another great example of opportunity is reserved for those who strive hard. Lang Lang started to learn piano when he was three years old. He has been interested in piano since he was a child. He practiced for at least five or six hours a day, and increase to more than eight hours for performances. Lang Lang never complained about that. Until there was a backup piano opportunity, Lang Lang performs Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No.1 with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, conducted by renowned conductor, at the Ravinia Music Festival. At last, when the last note was played, the audience rose and cheered that “ Lang Lang is the greatest and most exciting piano genius in the world.” The Chicago BBS; one of the three major American newspapers, said it was a highly complimentary impromptu performance. If someone would have this chance to play, but he was not as powerful as Lang Lang, he still could not play that tune well and to be that influential. Accordingly, the chance is only prepared for someone who is working hard and is ready for it.
Attitude Towards Life
Third, effort is a positive and correct attitude towards life. People’s life is not always bright, what can accompany people to overcome the difficulties and obstacles and help them stand up from the failure is only the inspiration of struggle and the infinite dedication to victory. Struggling people have hope in their hearts, have more positive attitude towards life. No matter how difficult the situation of their life, they will not be defeated by themselves. They will just move forward. Those can not be replaced by accidental opportunities. It is foolish to wait for opportunity blindly, and can make negative attitude and influence. If the business sector makes a fortune only by waiting for opportunities, and does not make efforts to improve production technology and management, it will eventually be eliminated by the market. On the contrary, those who truly transform their efforts into an attitude, a part of their life, have a bright future.
In conculation，a famous writer Bing Xin said: ‘the flower of success is soaked in the strivers tears.’ It means success requires endeavor and sweat. Taking all those examples into consideration, there is no doubt that each road to success is full of strivers’ footprints. For young people, it is more meaningful to advocate endeavor than to emphasize opportunities. People should encourage their young friends to face difficulties, work hard, and seize opportunities with a prepared mind rather than wait for opportunity to come.
