Post Malone And Others On Happiness for Money
You would think being rich would help you feel connected with the world and be happier. This isn’t the case for the multi-millionaire singer/songwriter Post Malone. As of 2019, Post Malone’s net worth is estimated to be $14 million. (western) Post dropped his latest album “Beerbongs and Bentleys” Early 2018. the album one of the songs is titled “Rich and Sad.” The theme of this song is “the old adage that money can’t buy you happiness” (Songfacts). The lyrics read “All this stuntin’ couldn’t satisfy my soul. I got a hundred big faces, but I’m still alone.” These lines are significant because Post explains that he has worked so hard to get where he is today, he has all the money he needs but it’s not enough to make himself happy because he doesn’t have the outside relationships with people he loves. Buying your dream home is different from living your dream life within it.
Everyone has a goal they want to achieve when they get older. Buying your first home is something everyone wants to experience. When you think of buying your first home you think about your relationships within that home and the love and joy you’re spreading and receiving. You’re not worried about how much money you’re going to be spending on that house each month. When you finally reach your goal, and you buy that big house you’ve always wanted, if you don’t have anyone to spend that special moment with you’ll always feel like something is missing.
If you do what makes you happy, the money will come. If all you have is money, you will never be happy. For example one of my 5th-grade teachers loves what she does. She loves teaching kids and loves the people she works with. She’s been teaching for over 15 years, and she never complains about doing what she loves. Because she enjoys her job and is also good at it, she gets paid more than the average teacher.
Money Doesn’t Make Us Happy
Gertrude Stein once said “whoever said money can’t buy you happiness, clearly doesn’t know where to shop.” Money might be able to buy your confidence and materialistic things, but Money is only short-term happiness. When you have everything you want, you do not have anything to dream about or look forward to. At first, you might the things you have bought with your money such as cars, clothes, shoes, and a big house, But the newness always wears off and gets old after a while. Money can only buy you think that you want, like shoes and jewelry, but it cannot buy your needs, like love, friendships, and time with your family. All of these things are examples of how money cannot buy you happiness. When you’re sad and alone you always look for a shoulder to cry on, you don’t say to yourself “I am so upset maybe I need to go buy this car I’ve been wanting.” When you think about your favorite memories, you remember all the relationships and love that were shared in those moments. Being happy is an emotion, it is something you feel, not something you buy. That is why … Happiness is priceless!
