As we all know that the brain is the most delicate part of our body . Without the brain we would not be able to do so many things, example: receive impulses (receiving impulses means being able to access our environment like when you are being touched the reason why you know that you are touched is because of the brain). Also the brain unlike the pipeline in computing is the part of the body where messages are stored and given out.
Therefore the brain is the part of the body that executes both the critical and the creative thinking.
In the paragraphs below we are going to talk about creative and critical thinking, their examples and in occasions where they can be applied. Creative thinking: Creating thinking as it has the word “creative” is in it. To create means to bring something new or bring out new ideas. Being creative is to be someone who always brings out new ideas and bring out something new.
According to what we were taught to be creative is to be generative, to be creative is to be nonjudgmental, to be creative is to be expansive. When you are thinking creatively you are generating a new set of ideas.
Examples of creative thinking:”the true sign of intelligence is not knowledge but imagination, for while knowledge defines all we currently know and understand, imagination points to all we might yet discover and create. ”-Einstein Albert. “The chief enemy of creativity is’good’sense. ”-Pablo Picasso. ”I make more mistakes than anyone else I know, and sooner or later, I patent most of them.
”-Thomas Edison. “If you do not expect the unexpected you will not find it, for it is not to be reached by search or trail. ”-Heraclitus. ”The best way to have a good idea is to have a lot of ideas. ”-Linus Pauling
Critical thinking: Critical thinking on the other hand is thinking critically, thinking on the ideas you have already created. Trying to choose from the ideas you create. For someone to think critically is for someone to be analytical, for someone to think critically is for someone to be judgmental, for someone to think critically is for someone to be selective. When you are thinking critically you are not creative. When you are thinking critically you are making choices, may be you are making choices from the ideas you created or you are making choices from the ideas someone has already created. Examples of critical thinking.
“I cannot teach anybody anything, I can only make them think. ”-Socrates. “An intellectual is someone whose mind watches itself. ”-Albert Camus. ”Men occasionally stumble over truth, but most of them pick themselves up and hurry off as if nothing had happened. ”-Winston Churchill. The differences between creative and critical thinking are 1) In creative thinking ideas are generated while in critical thinking choice of ideas are made. 2) creative thinkers are nonjudgmental while critical thinkers are judgmental. 3) creative thinkers generalize on ideas they are exposed to while critical thinkers select ideas.
4) creative thinkers think broadly and widely while critical thinkers think only on a spot. Finally we can apply creative and critical thinking I the real life. And as we can apply them I many situations, there are situations in which the different types of thinking can be applied depending on the situation. Example: In an argument creative thinking is to be used because when arguing you have to bring more ideas and points in the argument in order for you to win the argument. When proving an experiment critical thinking is applied because you are proving the experiment based on the ideas you used to create the experiment.
