5a. Describe a person you admire or who has influenced you a great deal “Music is a higher revelation than all wisdom and philosophy. ” Ludwig Van Beethoven is one of the most famous and influential composers of all time. His works have been admired for over a century, and still affects many modern composers of our time, such as Scott Joplin, another infamous composer. In the beginning of his career, Beethoven was criticized for his unconventional work and his abnormal temper.
However, he kept with his passion of creating music and ultimately reached his goal. I greatly admire Ludwig Van Beethoven because of his courage for making unique, different music that wasn’t the “style,” and more importantly, his perseverance as a composer that helped him greatly through times of darkness. While Ludwig Van Beethoven has influenced many acclaimed composers, actors, and musicians, you may not realize that he has also influenced children in everyday life. Beethoven’s ability to differ from the present style has appealed to many teens.
In the contemporary day, many teens have followed the latest trend in school, at home, and many other places no matter how uncomfortable it seems. As teens become more mature, some may realize that you don’t have to follow trends to make friends or fit in, the same way Beethoven composes beautiful music that is unique and different. This trait of Beethoven’s has influenced me to discover that being myself creates a bigger impact on society, than following someone else’s trends.
Beethoven’s perseverance has also helped him in many ways.
In the early stages of Beethoven’s career, many critics complained that Beethoven’s music was “obnoxious and rude” and his temper was unpredictable and explosive. But Beethoven persevered through the hard times and created the best out of things, such as Fur Elise and Moonlight Sonata. As you may know, during the course of his life, he slowly became deaf in both ears. Fellow composers and musicians of his time thought, “Surely, this will be the end for this great songsmith! ” But did Beethoven quit his work and give up his dreams?
Absolutely not! Instead, he created many great compositions and works, such as the Symphony No. 9 (Ode to Joy,) and Consecration of the House. We, as teens, need to follow Beethoven’s example as a lesson. Don’t be knocked down just because other people tell you you’re not good at it, or how it’s not worth it. Having perseverance is why Beethoven is my role model, because from him, I learned that following your dreams is not necessarily easy, but once you overcome society obstacles, the reward is personal.
