Building Strong Communities: Shared Values & Sociological Perspectives

It is already been a common practice that individuals who share the same beliefs, ideas and visions form a group in order to share also to the public what they are capable of doing. In the organization, sharing is as important as satisfying customers. However, not only these two are important but also the values that every people live by, the values that they learn in the community in which they are a part of.

A community is a group of people which share common ideas in order to achieve whatever the purpose is.

The community must have one common objective to achieve and this may serve as their guide in the completion of the tasks they are assigned to. It is a natural agenda of a community to help people. Helping people is one of the ways in which the community can share whatever they have to the general public.

Communities do not just refer to the people but the components which are beyond the members – their togetherness.

This also means the set of interactions of human behaviors which have meaning between and among its members (Bartle, 2008).

For communities, they focus on capacities. Focusing on capacities means giving the best that they can to the environment in which they are a part. Focusing on capacities means that the members of the community render services to the people in the most effective manner. This also means that the members are willing to extend their help to whoever needs it. With the mission of extending help, the members of the community must have the willingness to serve its people.

The capacities which are referred here are the abilities of the members to do everything that are expected of them.

On one hand, service systems focus on deficiencies. When service systems focus on deficiencies, this means to say that the community focuses on correcting whatever deficiencies of the services the community offers. Services must not be deficient for this can affect the satisfaction of the people living in the area. With its aim of serving the people, services must be efficient and effective to build the foundation of trust among the people in the area. It is important for the community to be friendly enough to its people, to foster a good working condition and a peaceful place to live in.

In a sociological view of organizations, the international is the closest example that can be given. An institutional school is composed of students having different nationalities who want to acquire knowledge in the most effective way. An institutional school is merely established to render services to the students – not just in terms of academic learning but also of imparting and inculcating the correct values that each student must learn to live by.

In today’s modern world, there is a need to establish an organizational community which can deal with people of various beliefs. This is very important because as time passes, organizations become more complex – by the nature of transactions they deal with. To overcome this, there must be a sociological connection between and among the members of the community to foster a good working relationship.

It may be quite hard to foster a good working relationship among people with various personalities but it very much important to fill the gap. Solving this issue can result into a better place to live in.
