Making good choices is one of the hardest challenges in life. When you are 14 you have to make many decisions, some that will affect you many years from now and some that will help you from the day you make the choice. There are many choices you have to make in a life time, like what you want to be when you are older, how you eat, whether its healthy or unhealthy, the attitude you have towards people/things and many other things that will affect you when you are older.
Big choices that young teens have to make are whom they are friends with.
Having the “cool” friends is very important to some people, but sometimes the people who are “cool” aren’t always the best influence. Friends who aren’t a good influence aren’t really people you should be hanging out with. If they are getting you into trouble that you don’t want to deal with, then you should know not to be their friend.
Friends who get you into trouble usually don’t treat you they way you want to be treated. Friends can also convince you to do something you don’t want to do but know how to say no is important with your friends.
They need to respect your decisions, and if they don’t, then they aren’t a friend you should consider hanging out with. When you make the right decision on choosing friends, it will make you a happier person.
This is because you won’t have to worry about them getting you into trouble. Also having responsible friends will help you because you might take after their actions. Having good friends through high school can affect you when you are older. When you are around the age of 20 and want to move out of the house, having good friends and not getting into trouble will help you.
This is because of many reasons. Having good school years and staying out of trouble will help you get a job. Getting a job will give you money, and because of the good friends you chose you would be successful. When you have irresponsible friends you will have to worry about a lot. This includes getting into trouble with the law, facing your parents about things that have gone wrong and worrying about your reputation at school. Having friends you know you can’t trust will make you upset or unhappy.
When this happens you might slack at school because of seeing people you don’t want to see. So choosing bad friends isn’t a good choice, because it can affect many things. Drugs and alcohol is another thing that friends pressure you into doing. Choosing friends that you know smoke pot, or get drunk all the time aren’t really people you should be friends with. If you do choose to stay friends with them, which would be the bad choice, then you might end up getting addicted to drugs or alcohol.
This is because being around them might tempt you to try it once, but trying it once might take trying it twice to get a stronger high. So then all because of choosing this friend, you are now addicted to drugs. So when you choose your friends now, be smart. Make sure you think about what is going to happen in the long run if you make a bad choice. Just know that choosing good and responsible friends will help you when you are older and you know they will be there if you fall.
