Choosing the Right University

Introduction There is a lot of things in life that need a right decision because sometimes what we choose is determine our future too. That’s the reason why the important one for me is about understand that life is really a choice. My name is Kharis Ardine Limosa ,I was born on 6th June 1988, when I was growth become a mature and looking all the journey of my life I just feel so blessed and thankful because I have a greatest family in the world that consisting of my furious dad, super mom and two lovely sisters.

We life with too much love to each other. I learned to many things about value of living by the times I have already past. When I want to go to the university, my dad always teach me to choose all things in life based on what I needed and I really want, because everything that choosen by heart would be good and perfect as long as accompanied by hard working and prayer.

Its same like why I choose and how can I be there in Universitas Pelita Harapan with Business School major.

Many people said that knowledge is the most important things to become a success person but, in my opinion being a success is not as simple as that, we need right place to get education, a good society such as friends and the environment element, a large network, that can support the activity of studying, that will decided our future and can make our dream to be a real one soon.

As we can see in Jakarta there’s so many good university with their excess, but based on my research by asking some friend and see the real campus live in each university that I did before I’m choose this university, I was found that universitas Pelita Harapan is the best university that have a unique competitive advantages than others.

When I was graduate from Gandhi Senior High School, the place that very good for me because I have so many friend and good living High school there, doing a lot of fantastic thing, get too much knowledge and finished all my high school life with a great score in Ujian Akhir Nasional was made me feel so happy and need to decided the continuing appropriate place to extend my degree become a student of university. I have so many choose in this town because as we know that Jakarta is very big city with too much university

that have their own advantages besides UPH (Pelita Harapan University), such as ; Untar (Tarumanegara Univesity), Binus ( Bina Nusantara University) , Atmajaya Univesty, UMN (Media Nusantara University) ,Prasetya Mulya Business School Univesity and many others. In my free times especially on the weekdays ,I was going to other University to see the real building ,real situation, real of campus live in the each university that i would like.

The last University that I was visited is UPH because it’s a far awa from Jakarta City and also far away from my home. I need to faced the mess traffic and got the Tol with 18 km estimated to the destination, Lippo Karawaci or or now better known as Lippo Village the town whereas the Pelita Harapan University been. The first time, I came to Pelita Harapan Global Campus I was seen that they were construct the very big building for Management major or usually the called business school.

Then I walked and seen the situation of Pelita Harapan Campus , from the board that I saw their garden I was knew that Pelita Harapan is the one Global Campus in Indonesia because the have so many majors but all of them collective in one place one location and the one things that to be more interested for me is about how the create the wonderful place with a comfortable area by a awesome garden that really go green. All of the area of pelita Harapan campus was look amazing and like in the abroad country.

I was never seen the beauty campus more good than Pelita Harapan have. Besides of the great areas, this campus also have the completed facility example : a perfect FJ (Food Junction) , three basketball court, a football and running court, the biggest library I ever seen, and the fabulous Grand Chapel that would be the place of some ceremony or special event and also the modern building. The student of this university is surely consist of a random people from another country, another city,and another etnics.

After seen so many things and based on research by came to another campus and sharing with the family and friends. I decided by my self to choose Pelita Harapan University to become my continuing place to get more knowledge in my next steps for university student. I passed some test academic and non academic to get it. After waiting for a while maybe for one month I get the news from email and formal letter that officially informed that I was accepted into the Pelita Harapan university student.

I felt so happy and proud of my choice. In August 2007, I’m officialy become a new student. There are some things that I must passed before I have a formal campus activity, all the newest student must attended the opening ceremony or they have own name for this programme that called UPH festival. Its been for a week and it is like a some activity to introduce Pelita Harapan Campus to the new student also for open the friendship gate with other new student.

After passed the Festival then the actually time to studying was came. I choose this Univesity based on my own opinion, my own choice without force from my parents. So do the major that I have already choose, Business School. The reason why I choose the major because I want to be a success person like the other people did by the business way so I thought I need to learned more and more about the theories, a several practice and become the business man. Not only for my self but also make my parents proud of me.

Now a days, when I actually one of Pelita Harapan students, I see another different things that I ever known before. I get more knowledge from a great lecture that have a high experience in their own classifier. They teach me about not only become a big people on future but also about manage many people and create a good image in the business that I will do soon. The activity of the studying is not bored at all because in this university I also have so many good friend that help each other when we have a trouble especially in the lesson.

Sometimes the give me a tutorial as the easier way to understand about the difficult lesson I do not understand in some class. In this campus I also learned that sometimes knowledge is not enough to create and built the future , the people to be the important things too. Friends is teach me a lot of things from the sharing and our quality time I have really learned that there are so many kind of people in this world with their own opinion ,when we build the friendship each others then I have known too much again about life.

Sometimes I disappointed ,and everything is just unpredictable. Your closest friend the one you really believe can be your enemy too, the things is releated with the lesson about business that in fact the one I’ve need to believe at all is God and my self. My lecturer in Economy classes also teach me about it. About how hard to build some business and believe with others. This campus teach me the things more than other campus did because in the real life all the things they said and a little experience about society is the truth one.

It is out of the book, out of the theories but I get it from the real situation. So both of theories and the experience of social living is the most important to knowing deeply about value of living and understand the lesson. In the others hand, beside all the complicated things about the material lesson and non material lesson I was felt so happy I can be there and become of them. Because I also can used all the facility that they give such as: library, basketball court, fitness room, food junction, Myc room and others.

Based on what I see this university want to be better and better from day to day the do some innovation for make this campus more interesting and create a comfortable zone for the students, like as some innovations the do lately is construct a swimming pool that same as a standart olympiade international. The very big swimming pool that include in one of new facilities also a new competitive advantages. From the academic sides, they also create and make an easier way to all student to access their websites (www. uph.

edu) that can inform the student about the things that related with the campus activity such as : finance, schedule and the scores. They used a high maintance to make the modern server like the another country did. That’s the main point about uniqueness of Pelita Harapan and the several reason why I choose this University than others. Time goes by, and I have learned that everything in my life is already planned by God, same like been to this place ,the place to studying that I choose by self that give me a lot of reason to be blessed become of the part of Pelita Harapan family.

Their good mission and vision about Trust to God is also become the one principles that I would hold on not only while I was study here but until the day I already graduate and get what I dreamed. I guess with this modern generation Pelita Harapan can be better and better ,be the leading from another campus and stay in their rules about their vision and mission that always be great. From my short story about how can I be there today, I would like to tell that in life sometimes we need to know what we really need besides what we really want.

Because every little things that choosen by heart and without force from others, its be the best one that have a bigger opportunities to express the dream. Like my cases about choose a university maybe some people think that it was be a little things and easy things. But if in that day, I choose the wrong one ,I would never told other how happy my university life now, because maybe I’ve been in the wrong place. And the big things I have learn is about when I choose everything with my self so I will never regret because I walked in the way I choose and moving in the rule I believe it is the right.

When many people ask me about university I will recommended this university to other based on my experience, that Pelita Harapan only teach about the formal academic but also we can learn the informal academic too. With their expensive price , its does not matter because the also prepare the student the best environment and the great element to create a balancing with their highly cost. Some of my friends in other campus, sometimes regretting with their choice because many of them choose the university based on their parent opinions, following other friend or something like that.

In the first time they will think never mind but after they passed it and they would regret it. The times when u’ve regret it maybe the time that never rewind and the best way when we stuck in same situation is stay in the path and go on. The best lesson of this cases that I can share to others, is always thinking more than any others do, because a little decision can influence too much aspect in the future. Like my cases when I choice to continuing study in Pelita Harapan Univesity with the Business major it will create the generate effect and impact to make a big decision in next day.

The time that I decided something it will be the time for me to moving up and take the risk so better that have a time to focus and think clearly about what things we want to choose by ourself without force from others. All the things in life is really a choice. Its depends on how we see the opportunities and analyze the situation. We can flashback the times, can not always looking back because we can not changes all the things that already happen in past so make sure that all of the journey is worth it. This is about a some brief story about the things that I choose by my self that be a student of Pelita Harapan University.
