Statement of purpose
“Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself.”

This quote by John Dewey has had a remarkable influence on me. I have always considered that education in itself is the most satisfying pursuit, a value instilled by my mother, herself a teacher for many years. I had no exposure to computers or the Internet at my home or school at first. But one day, our school started ‘smart classes’, which I found extremely interesting and instructive.

This ignited a spark in my mind about modern technology and computers. I was enthralled by the rapidly developing world of computing and the revolution taking place in technology, especially due to the evolution of computers.

My first biggest decision which set the path for my career was choosing Information Technology as my field of study in engineering even though my parents were against it.

I remember the day I and my father had an argument about what I should do with my life. While he wanted me to pursue Civil Engineering, I always had a desire to know how program based equipment and games worked, wanted to learn by experience & yearned to solve challenging problems. Ever since the day my father brought our first Computer home, I have had a peculiar interest in knowing how one could fit an entire world into such a small box.

The ease with which a computer performs complex tasks which otherwise would take a lot of manpower is fascinating. I see the whole field more and more poised to take off. This strong liking for computers, zeal to learn about new technologies, story of how Jobs created Apple as a technology firm, and a few other insanely inquisitive questions led me to choose to study Information Technology, and I still believe that it is the smartest thing I have ever done.

I secured an engineering seat in one of the reputed colleges of Osmania University. The days of my undergraduate study at M.V.S.R Engineering College helped me to get sound knowledge and a firm grasp over the principles underlying the course of Computer Engineering and has furnished me with the necessary prerequisites for a formal graduate course.

In my undergraduate study I was exposed to Software Engineering, Computer Networks, Data Structures, Microprocessors, Computer Architecture, Operating Systems, Design and Analysis of Algorithms, Artificial Intelligence, Theory of Computation, …….etc. These courses helped me gain a strong background in the fundamentals of Computer Science. These were aptly complemented by the laboratory courses. Throughout my engineering course, I continuously endeavored to go beyond the curriculum and enhance my knowledge and skills.

I have worked on several projects and papers. One among them was a project named “Online Blood Bank”, a web-based project. The project is aimed to develop an online blood donation information. The entire project has been developed keeping in view of the distributed client-server computing technology. The blood donation agent is to create an e-information about the donors who are interested in donating the blood. Through this website, any person who is interested in donating the blood can register himself. Admin is the main authority who can do addition, deletion, and modification. For implementing the project we have created a web page using HTML and Java Servlets are used for hosting the website. MY SQL DATABASE is used for maintaining the Blood Donors details. By using the database the person in urgent need of blood can contact the person who is willing to donate his blood. Our project even provides the location of the donor so that the person in need of blood can easily reach him.

Apart from my educational pursuits, I have been involved in many extracurricular activities. Since childhood, I have always been interested in various sports, music, drawing, painting, and even gardening. I was elected as the Sports Secretary of my School. I participated in many basketball tournaments in and around our school since my 4th grade. I was the Basketball Team Captain in my 9th as well as 10th grade. I even attended Basketball district tournaments. During my tenure as the Sports Secretary, I even organized the inter-school open table tennis tournament. During my engineering, I’ve continued my basketball career and was a part of the Basketball Team. Apart from extra-curricular activities I’ve also worked for the welfare of needy people and conducted many social events for the poor and old. I was the Vice President of Street Cause Organization of MVSREC from 2017-2018 during which I’ve conducted many events to help the poor. These experiences brought to the fore my leadership abilities, while also assisting in ameliorating my social skills.

Having acquired a solid foundation in the field of computer science through a rigorous undergraduate program, at this point, I feel that it is the right time to take up graduate studies. I wish to augment my understanding of the nuances of the Computer Science field and use this knowledge to further my chances for a lucrative career in Software. With a keen interest in working on the latest web technologies, I seek to take advantage of the plethora of opportunities in the field of MIS which allows me to increase my knowledge base.

I am applying to the Masters in Computer Science program at The University of ____________ because of its reputation to provide an intellectual experience to its students and assist them in gaining expertise in computer-related courses.
