I believe that God is with me every second of every day. This sounds a bit unreal to many people but I truly cannot ever remember a moment in my life that I have not felt God’s presence.Isaiah 41:10 says “Don’t fear, because I am with you; don't be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, I will surely help you; I will hold you with my righteous strong hand.”
I believe that God is sovereign and pure.
He is our Lord, our master, and our creator. I am a firm believer that something cannot come from nothing; every creation has a creator. How can you put so much faith in someone that you’ve never seen? Easy. God is like Oxgyen. You can’t see him, but you need him to survive. There’s confirmation of his existence everywhere; starting with nature. Words can’t describe the magnificence of the natural world. I’m unsure if it’s the depth of the ocean, the power packed into a hurricane, or the colorful hues of the simplest sunset, but whatever it is, there is something astonishing about the world we live in.
Behind all this raw beauty hides an even more impressive truth: earth is balanced flawlesslesly to be a cordial environment for humans and there’s no way that this is a coincidence.
It is proven that if the force of gravity were even marginally different in a single direction, it would be too hot for life to exist on earth.
That’s not all; the universe has been constantly expanding since it’s origin. It is unknown, how the universe began, but since 1927, scientists have argued for the Big Bang theory. At its simplest, the theory says the universe as we know it started with a small singularity, then inflated over the next 13.8 billion years to the cosmos that we know today. The universe had to expand with just enough force to keep it from reversing course and caving in on itself, but not so much force that stars and planets would unsuccessfully manifest.
To reject the possibility that there’s an almighty being who created something as impressive as life, scientists have proposed ideas such as the multiverse theory. In accordance to this theory, the earth is a single planet in trillions of universes. This increases the possibility for there being at least one universe with conditions hospitable for life. The theory isn’t based on any hard evidence, which is why Brian Greene once referred to it as “high-risk science.” To declare the existence of a multiverse that we can’t prove requires the same amount of faith as it does to accept the existence of a God that we can’t see. The fact that the earth is so amazingly conditioned to provide humans and animals a hospitable home helps me to read Psalm 19:1 in a new light, “The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.”
Another piece of evidence in favor of God’s existence would be the universal standard of right and wrong. The fact that the vast majority of us are virtuous beings that don’t spend our days conspiring evil, is good evidence that there is a God, and that God is good. In the world we live in, right and wrong mean something. Even if we disagree as to what right or wrong is, that doesn’t eliminate the category. Our people may disagree with whether it is right to have abortions, allow same-sex marriage, or authorize animal testing. But when it comes to basic human rights, it is agreed upon many that some moral standards are absolute.
My path to faith did not come by reading an essay packed with arguments for God’s existence and love. My faith in God came after I knew with my mind and felt in my heart that something was not right with the world and something was not right with me. As a small creature in a huge universe, I had so many questions that lead me to call out for answers. Answers that were with me all along. They were lying in his word. The message of the prophet Isaiah describes God’s action in my life: In that day the deaf shall hear the words of a book, and out of their gloom and darkness the eyes of the blind shall see. The meek shall obtain fresh joy in the LORD, and the poor among mankind shall exult in the Holy One of Israel” (Isa 29:18-19). All of the arguments of the admirable philosophers will never lead the skeptic to know God until he realizes he’s deaf, blind, meek, and poor. I was once was deaf but now I clearly hear the words of his book. I once was blind but now I vividly see. By God’s grace, I believe in a God who I know is there, but whom I cannot see, at least not yet.
