There is a Chinese proverb said, "Traveling thousands of miles is better than reading thousands of books. " It means you can learn more from traveling to places as opposed to reading about them from books. It is very true that you can learn more by actually experiencing things by yourself. While you are traveling, you will be able to meet different kinds of people from different places. You can also learn and experience their unique culture while you are spending time with the locals.
Nevertheless, you will have chances to actually see the relics, famous places, and if you are lucky enough, you might meet some famous person and have a real conversation with them.
These experiences you will never find from the books. You saw a lot of pictures of different races from books with description, however you will never know the actually who they are. By traveling in those local places, you can learn more about the local races, their language and make friend with them.
This experience you can't make it from the books.
And when you are traveling, you will be able to join their local festivals or try their local food. You can learn their culture by interacting with them, tasting their food, visiting their stores, restaurants, temples and museums. From the museums that display the history of the local city, you can learn more and also break down the stereotypes and misperceptions from the books. You will have you own concept of how the cities are with your own observation and experience those cultures yourself.
By traveling you can learn a lot of information of famous places and relics around the world.
By reading a book will you ever know how spectacular they are in real? When I was a kid, my family and I traveled a lot. I had been to some places in Europe, United Stated, Japan, Korea and Thailand. The most memorable spectacular memory was the night view from the middle section of Eiffel tower. It was incredible that I still remember the mood, the view and the smell of the air. These experiences you can't ever find it from the books, no matter how great the books described the views and places.
In conclusion, you can learn more from traveling around the world than you are just reading a book. At the same time, you can actually experience the places on your own. Here is another Chinese proverb said, "No matter how I describe the sweet taste the apple is, you will never know the actual taste unless you try. " This is the same idea with the Chinese proverb mentioned at the beginning. That is you have to experience the places on your own, otherwise you will never know how the places really are no matter how great the books have described the places are.
