The arts include pictorial arts, theater, and melody. The humanities are those technical corrections that study human culture.  The next term, being “beauty,” meaning the pleasing arrangement of portions that affect us beautifully. Finally, humanities, meaning the creative expression of men and women. Involving stories, notions, and the arguments that help us make sense of the world.

“The Humanities and critical thinking,” The dominant message of this chapter is to direct how studying the humanities can be a journey into self-knowledge. Critical thinking is the skill of intelligent and rational study. Looking at subjects accurately, gathering all data, drawing conclusions about the element based on evidence. In terms of replies to art and notions of the humanities, the Apollonian states to the "that side of the human character dominated by motive and controlled logical, rational, and clear thought." Furthermore, Dionysian responses are personal and expressive, beyond motive, both have their places in the humanities. There are three types of mental exercise. Defining and solving problems, Problem-solving is the act of defining a problem, establishing the cause of the problem, classifying, arranging, and selecting and implementing a solution. Challenging assumptions, a problem-solving strategy that contains testing ideas that are presumed to be accurate by an individual, group, organization, culture, knowledge, or business.

Recognizing context, When we interact with others, the context in which our actions take place plays a significant portion in our performance that the considerate items, words, feelings, and social signals may vary depending on where we encounter them.  Historical context mentions the community, spiritual, financial, and political situations that existed during a specific time and place. In analyzing past events, the background can help understand what inspires people to act as they did. An excellent example of historical adaptation would be, “Pocahontas” It's thought that Pocahontas wedded an Indian named Kocoum in 1610. Afterward, she evaded the English till 1613 when she was tempted onto the English ship of Captain Samuel Argall and abducted during the Initial Anglo-Powhatan War. A critic is a professional who connects an assessment and view of various methods of original works such as art, poetry, melody, film, theatre, style, building, and nutrition. A personal critical response doesn’t need significant training as a professional critic. A professional critic is involved with the new York times, and the personal critic focused on the idea of response.

In conclusion, “The Humanities: A Shining Beacon,” the main idea covered in this chapter is humanities are the inspired and knowledgeable languages of each of us in moments of inspiration. And also, in “The Humanities and critical thinking,” The dominant message of this chapter is to direct how studying the humanities can be a journey into self-knowledge. Reading both passages can help guide an understanding of the art of humanities. Professor Calderon planed this chapter read to give a brief introduction of humanities. I encourage students to take this course and learn as much as possible; that way, the world of humankind can be bettered understood and used in a usual manner.
