This festival is during the month of January. The dates that this event occur is January 10-12. They have many events that occur during this one big festival. This festival also has many sponsors and causes for them to have it. They have good times all throughout the festival. All everybody wants to do is have fun with friends and family all day. They have everyone come out from their communities and join them for their festival.

It is a family friendly festival that has fairs and rides for kids.

They also have delicious food and gumbo cook offs. They also have this pageant were they pick a king and queen of the festival. They do this each year and there is always a new winner. He arranged the first fur and wildlife competition.The congressman of Cambridge, Maryland challenged Representative Thompson to send a local resident to compete in the National Fur Skinning Contest. Fifty-two-year-old Leon Hebert, a 25-year trapper, from Cameron was sent to the National Outdoor Show where he placed fifth in the nation that year. A small group of people met during the summer of 1955 in the Cameron Courthouse Building, to make plans for the first festival.

In conclusion, the Louisiana Fur and Wildlife Festival was chosen as a Top 20 Event by the Southeast Tourism Society in 1989, 2012 and 2013.The festival honors nine native industries, all vital to Cameron Parish, usually on a rotating basis. Shrimp, Farming/Rice Hunting, Wildlife Alligator Oyster Menhaden ,or (pogy fish), and Fur Cattle Oil.
