Canada's dedication to human rights makes Canada one of the best places in the world to live. Canada provides freedom of choice for all citizens and Canada is known for the emphasis we put on equality. With both of these points in mind, one must also consider the best and most prominent part of Canada's dedication to human rights, The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms as an influential part of Canada being such a great place to live. Some of the most important point of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms in the country are Equality Rights, Fundamental Freedoms, and Legal Rights.
The Canadian citizens have lots of right; the Equality right is one of the important rights. Canada is a country where many people treat their freedom of choice as a right and forget that many other people in the world do not have the option to make many of the choices we take for granted. As a Canadian, we respect each other; everyone has the right to speak up and express their ideas and opinions.
Even the government must allow all of the Canadians with equal respect and dignity. Canada is also among the few countries that do not force its citizens to join the military. As it can surely be seen, Canada offers many choices for its citizens. Canada is not only a land of choices, but furthermore Canada is a land of growing equality.
It can not be said that everyone in Canada is treated totally equal, because that would be a lie, but as the years progress the government is working towards equality.
The rights of the Aboriginals are also protected in Canada under Canada's Aboriginal Action Plan. Every individual is equal before and under the law and has the right of equal protection and equal benefit of the law without discrimination and, in particular, without discrimination based on race, national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, sex, age or mental or physical disability. Equality is written into our laws. This proves that Canada puts a great emphasis on treating all citizens equally.
The Legal right is also one of the important rights. It includes the right to live, liberty and security of the person. This Charter outlines the many rights of Canadians and guarantees their enforcement. Every Canadian has the right to freedom of peaceful assembly and freedom of association. This is important in any country because guaranteeing a peaceful assembly guarantees a diplomatic government that rules with a balanced hand. Freedom of association in our country goes hand in hand with our guaranteed freedom of conscience and religion. Freedom of association is a right to be a part of a group or minority of your choice without being lectured in other areas of your life for being a part of that group.
The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms also outlines the legal rights that all Canadians are entitled to. Every Canadian has the right to live. It makes no difference that you are what you've done, where you've come from or what you believe, you have the right to live. Every Canadian has the right not to be subjected to any cruel and unusual treatment or punishment. Canada, as a country, does not support the death penalty. As one can plainly see, it is written into the constitution that such punishments are not acceptable. Our protection and preservation of human life written into our laws and make Canada a good nation.
As a result of these rights, Equality Rights, Fundamental Freedoms, and Legal Rights, an individual is now able to see that because of the freedom of choice Canada provides to its citizens, the importance Canada puts on equality of not only the sexes, but as well all minorities. Canada is one of the best places in the world to live. In a country as large and diverse as Canada, equality is very important. It is so important that the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms is a part of our Constitution.
