The biblical perspective

In the bible their isn't anything on abortion itself, but it does talk about how we should treat life and death.

Old Testament

Exodus 20:13 'Thou Shall Not Kill'

This simply means that no one should kill any human being, but then again not all people would consider a growing baby in a mother's womb to be a human being.

Jeremiah 1:5 'Before I knew you in the womb I knew you, and

before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations'

This part of Jeremiah speaks about how God knows us even before we are born into society.

He has already chosen what our special role will be in life.

New Testament

Mark 12:31 'Love your neighbour ad yourself'

This extract talks about the fact that everyone should like (love) each other that no hostilities are taken to each other. This includes killing a life inside a womb.

I Corinthians 3:16-17 'Do you not know that you are God's temple and

that God's spirit dwells in you? If anyone destroys God's temple, God will destroy him.

For God's temple is holy, and that temple you are.'

This is saying that in all human beings, including in a mothers womb, has God inside them. And therefore, if you kill that being then you are killing one of God's temples.

Example Two: A woman may not be able to support her child due to being single (for example, if the father has left her); she cannot afford to bring up a child.

Example Three: A woman may feel that she is not ready for a child and would rather pursue her career in life.

Example Four: She maybe underage and therefore would get into trouble for having underage, and unprotected, sex. And in this case she would not be able to support her child at such an early age.

Example Five: The woman may find out that her child maybe disabled or mentally challenged, and would consider having the abortion for the 'child's' sake.

These are just five of the many reasons why a woman wishes to consider having an abortion.
