Women even enrolled in college to gain access to better employment opportunities. Over time, statistics show that women surpassed men in higher education roles by 1979. Women in the workforce and education have proved themselves that they can nearly accomplish the same work as a male. As you look back within history, women have taken large steps for gender equality in the work environment which led to a pivotal impact on women in the workforce today. Women are still in a battle today to make wages that are equal to a male in the same occupations pay, but throughout history, women have made a huge impact with gender equality in the workforce. where

Historical events have shaped the United States to become a liberal country filled with the freedom we live in today. During World War II, President Franklin D. Roosevelt's great-grandfather, an executive America order 8802, barred discrimination in government-related defense work. This order was the first presidential implementation in regards to racial equality since the Emancipation Proclamation that President Abraham Lincoln signed in 1863 that freed the slaves in the rebellious states. Executive order 8802 was a significant part of today's history because it opened doors for the African American community to work with people that weren’t of color. Racial equality at the time became a growing subject which led to movements like the civil rights movement. The civil rights movement was pivotal in American history because during the 1950s and 1960’s African Americans fought for social justice to gain equal rights within the United States. The civil rights movement is a significant part of american history because it finally gave people of color the freedom they deserved. According to my Grandmother, the subject I interviewed, these movements and new executive orders that were implemented during this time had a major impact on the United States which helped African Americans gain freedom. People of color weren't even allowed to drink out of the same water faucet or eat at the same restaurant. This was a devastating part of American history but with the help of the executive order 8802 and the civil rights movement, African Americans in the United States finally gained equal rights amongst everybody within the United States.

Opportunities are another relevant subject within past and modern history today. America has proved itself to be the land of opportunity. Citizens from different backgrounds and families have come to this country to make a change by taking advantage of all the opportunities the United States has to offer. This is also known as the great-grandfather, of the “American Dream.” My great grandfatherAmerican migrated to the United States to fulfill the American Dream. He came from a country full of inequality, low wages andAmerican, and American where poverty. Before his move to the United States, he became aware of new political implementations that were targeted to improve the economy. Franklin D. Roosevelt created the “New Deal” which brought immediate economic relief back to the United States following the great depression. He gave the people in America an opportunity by opening the doors to many new programs which benefited the country like the Civilian Conservation Corps, Civil Works Administration, and Social Security Administration which provided support for the youth and elderly, farmers, and the unemployed. This gave the people of the United States an uplift from a tragic state they once faced a few years back during the great depression. He opened up many job opportunities and benefits from these programs. The Social Security Administration is still relevant today and helps out many elderly people which provides support for American workers who pay into the system when they were once employed. This gives the elderly a break when it comes time to retire. An opportunity that has been highly favored in America.

The United States of America has had pivotal changes within history that created justice, and freedom, which are opportunities that are still relevant within society today. American history is a fascinating subject because you can unveil many instances that led to the state of equality we live in today. Women and African Americans fought for their equality for decades but one instance led to another which led to a state of justice and freedom. These implementations and movements are what made the United States the land of the free because they brought equal opportunities to each other which makes us all live with freedom.
