In my life there is only a brief moment at a time when I am not connected to the world. From the lab top, cell phone, l-pod, newspaper, magazine, and radio my world seems to be way to over connected. Being a huge golf fan I have an app on my smart phone that gives me up to the minute coverage of whats happening in the golf world. This trend has found its way into politics and now practically anyone can have up to date information that was never available before.

Currently, we have so many news outlets and channels such as CNN, MSNBC, CNBC, and BBC that all specifically cater to constant political news and updates.

Shanto lyengar is an expert in the field and has just published a book called Media Politics It talks about how the medias influence in the world has shaped peoples opinions and thoughts on politics. Mr. Lyengar refers to this phenomenon, as the era of a permanent campaign that all politicians are now apart of.

I completely agree with Nikkos statement that image and politics have shared equal importance on the campaign trail because it is no longer the most suitable and best person for the job. Instead it is the man that can speak the best and run the best campaign trail. This leads to another controversy because the amount of money that is spent on these campaigns is now what seems to make the difference in who wins and looses a campaign.

Essentially what I have gained in reading Mr. Inyengars interviews is that there is no longer an unbiased, clear, and fair media option for Americans.

The most interesting interview that I found was Mr. Inyengars discussion with Jane Feinberg. He mainly discusses how the media frames certain stories to have an influence on how the public views them. Specifically, one of the framing types that he refers to is called Thematic Framing and it gives the audience a wide scope of the situation and focuses more on the big picture. I completely agree with Alex in that to truly inform citizens, thematic framing is needed because it gives more of an unbiased and informational take on the story. On the other hand episodic framing is more personal and much more biased towards one side.

In the end it is up to the public to be aware of the medias tactics and stay above their convincing attempts. What I will take from this exercise is that it is not ok to be ignorant to biased media because the accurately informed person will always have be able to make there own opinions while the others will be stuck with those of someone else.
