Sleeping at midnight and waking up at dawn, heedless on how long you slept, you hurriedly went to the bathroom and took a bath. These are just few of the common routines that Crimsons are experiencing every semester. Sleepless nights, hectic schedules, tough routines and mountainous requirements to be accomplished.

It cannot be done for a day for there are some who aren't in school anymore and you don't have any idea when they'll be in the campus. So, what you did was to continue going to school hoping that they will finally be there. As a symbol of your hard work, you decided to apply for a recognition in your college, you went to your College Students Council, asked for a form and filled it out, you comply all the requirements and you also spend coins downloading and printing your grade.

Dean's List, usually defined as an academic award, or notation, used to recognize the level of high scholarship demonstrated by students in a college or university. It is often synonymous with honor roll and honor list but should not be confused with honors degrees. Generally, students enrolled in college or university would need to satisfy a series of specific requirements before receiving the Dean's List. These requirements may differ across institutions, but in most cases will require students to enroll in a full-time capacity, to achieve a specific grade point average within the academic term, and to maintain a specific cumulative grade point average throughout enrollment.

Seeing your name in the Deans Lister paper that was posted on each College's bulletin board at the end of the school year is basically one of the goals of most college students. It symbolizes the hard works and sacrifices that you experienced in the whole school year. It paid off the sleepless nights and tough routines that you have faced plus it gives you lots of benefits. It can boost your self-esteem and it can help you get higher chances of employment in the job you're applying in the future.

Recently, the news on the removal of the Dean's list award in the usual recognition ceremony shocked the Crimson community. Students are used to have this kind of acknowledgment at the end of the school year, however this year, it was announced that the awarding of the Deans Lister was out of the usual recognition ceremony. Along with the news are the sentiments of those students who are honorary roll of Dean's List for the past years and as well as those who applied for the first time, some students have anonymously shared their opinions about the issue.

"It was a very frustrating news, I feel very disappointed about it, kasi for the past years ay inaaproved naman nila ang Deans List, Kaya nga yun ang ginagawa kong goal to study hard kasi gusto kong mapabilang ang pangalan ko dun and this year it indeed came true kasi umabot na ang grade ko sa GPA cut-off para sa Deans List but then news came and hindi na nga daw kasali ang Deans List sa mga award".

"I feel dismayed, I am a consistent Deans Lister for the past two years and when I heard the news I feel disappointed about it, sayang din kasi ang certificate, it can help me get a higher chances of getting hired in the future".

"I feel like sayang lang ang effort ko to work very hard for my goal which is to see my name in the Deans Lister. Disappointing ang news but I'm sure they have valid reasons why they removed it besides in the University Students Handbook wala naman nakasaad doon ang pag award ng Deans List but then it must be nice kung meron since halos lahat naman ng Universities and Colleges ay merong ganito". 

Some say that the goal of the student is to learn and not be recognized academically, but the idea of acknowledging a student for his or her efforts is satisfying. In fact, some students consider this as their motivation in molding a better future. Hopefully, the Crimsons will pursue their exemplary behavior towards their studies. Lest, the eradication of Dean's Lister in WMSU will not cause unwanted issues since learning is all that matters.
