Romeo and Juliet the greatest love story of all times some have dubbed it however, the male lead, Romeo isn’t as innocent as some think. He is a stalker who breaks into backyards. He has a habit of drastic mood swings. He also has the tendency to be alone and secluded. Romeo is mentally disturbed due to his bipolar disorder, depression, and his stalker tendencies.

Bipolar disorder, also known as manic-depressive illness, is a brain disorder that causes unusual shifts in mood, energy, activity levels, and the ability to carry out day-to-day tasks.

This causes someone to go from happy to sad even if nothing were to happen to them. This can be dangerous seeing as the one diagnosed can’t control their emotions which can cause them to act violently. On, lusty gentlemen,”. Romeo is stating that he has a bad feeling about the party and how it will lead to his demise, he even goes as far as to leave his life in the hands of others. Romeo is constantly displaying his depression through various methods.

A stalker is a person who is obsessed with another person and will follow, break into their house, and thinks the other person is equally in love with them. Romeo firsts tells Juliet he loves her after he breaks into her back yard. Romeo sneaks into her backyard and hides in the bushes while proceeding to say: “She speaks. / O, speak again, bright angel! For thou art/ As glorious to this night, being o’er my head, /….” . He is basically saying that she is an angel and that she is his angel. Keep in mind that they have only met once, and they know nothing about each other. Romeo has already made the decision of giving up his last name just to be with her. His delusion of grandeur ultimately leads to his demise as he dances around death due to his “infatuation” with Juliet.

Yet his actions don’t show that of loving and never hurting him. This dawns on his conscience but he never says its due to the death of Tybalt but that he did it. Also, his conscience or lack of leads him to believe that breaking into a tomb is perfectly fine. Romeo is very private and doesn’t think in terms of right or wrong.

Romeo is a normal teen during this time period. He doesn’t have depression he is just going through the phases of being in love and the feeling is not mutual. The people around him are saying this as well. His emotional range is also very healthy it is fine to feel an influx of rage due to having your best friend die in your place. However, there is no way to justify his stalker habits. His depression is also very much real, being love sick doesn’t cause one to mention death anytime love is. Nor does the excuse of his emotions being normal. There is nothing normal about saying you love someone to wanting them to die. Romeo is no normal teenager during this time period.

Romeo belongs in a psych ward due to his stalker habits, bipolar, depression, and sociopathic tendencies. He broke into a tomb and a backyard in the name of his so-called love. He kills yet feels remorse immediately after, and mentions love and death as if they are lovers. Romeo the so called lover of lovers is in fact a twisted boy who believes he is in love and that she loves him.
