Pros and Cons for Going Vegan

Categories: Veganism

Should people be vegetarian and stop eating meat? The only difference between being vegan and having to eat meat is that meat-eaters consume all types of food, and all types of animal products. Whereas vegans, they hold back from eating any type of animal product, not only meat but also eggs and dairy. Throughout the years, vegans have increased, not just as a trend but the number of people who are willing and demanding to eat foods that are plant-based products is getting higher and higher.

In our cultural tradition to nutrition, people are still debating about vegans and meat-eaters.

Although eating any type of meat has its health benefits, the cons outweigh the pros. However, by becoming a vegan not only does it stop people from slaughtering animals, but it also decreases health risks, and is an effective healthy diet.
To begin with, one of the main and most important reasons why vegans choose to stop eating meat and dairy food is because they want to stop harming animals so that they can protect them.

Imagine not having the capacity to pick whether one has a state to carry on with their very own life or pass on an unpleasant death; for people, this might seem as a nightmare to them but for animals this is what they go through and how their world goes, this is their reality.

Most of the animals can give basic nourishments to people whether it is meat, dairy, or even fats.

In any case, this does not imply that animals should be butchered and abused for the advantage and interest of people.

Humans take advantage of animal’s state and weaken them, animals don’t have a voice meaning that they can’t ask for any help or even say no to what is going to happen to them.

For humans, it is easy to slaughter the animals for food or other terrify reasons, “The Gale Encyclopedia of Nursing and Allied Health” (2018), the author stated that “dairy cattle are likewise infused with hormones that make them produce unnaturally high amounts of milk while weakening their immune system which ends up by having them unhealthy and sick” (p.3). This means that animals are abused easily. In addition to that, not only do people slaughter animals for meat, fur and other reasons but they also exploit and abuse them in order to get other materials like dairy items.

Since some of the people are used to eating veggies all the time, this helps with reducing murdering the animals, it also helps with preventing some health risks. Cholesterol is a substance that is found in our blood, it becomes dangerous if the levels in the blood become too high, it is normally caused by eating lots of animal based-foods which might lead to dangerous side effects such as; cancer, obesity, high blood pressure, kidney problems, and might develop cardiovascular diseases. However, because cholesterol is only found in animal products, this means that vegans are not at any risk of developing any health side effects. Based on the journal of “Low Cholesterol is Associated with Mortality from Stroke, Heart Disease, and Cancer: The Jichi Medical School Cohort Study” (2011), it states that “low cholesterol causes different health problems; heart diseases, strokes, and diabetes, which together reason 69% of all passing in the US. This means that a vegan diet reduces many risks and also has it benefits to the body. Vegetarians eat only foods that are based on plants, meaning they consume lots of fibers which is a good amount that can stop different health issues. For instance, American men have an in general higher percent danger of showing a heart attack, while then again vegetarians show roughly to be at a much lower chance”. In other words, vegans, appearing differently in relation to carnivores, they have a lower shot of getting these risks that are related to nourishments.

On the other hand, even if vegetarians have a lower chance of having health issues, they lack the amounts of vitamins needed for the body. Vegetarians don’t consume the amount of meat needed, which means they don’t consume vitamin B12 that is found in animal products. Vitamin B12 is a basic supplement for the body, having a low level of the vitamin it causes different risks for the health, such as; fatigue, anemia, damage in the nervous system, and many others. In spite of that, it is required in little amounts. Nonetheless, there are a few different ways for one to get his/her B12 nutrient without murdering any creature items. Vegetarians can consume the needed vitamin without having the need to eat any meat, they can either eat verified nourishments like mushrooms developed in nutrient B12-rich soils or basically by simply taking nutrient B12 supplements every day in specific amounts. Vegans should seek to go to dieticians or nutritionists to help them know what vitamins are missing and needed for their bodies and how much food they can consume daily. Based on the article “Veganism: A smart way to keep yourself healthy” (2018), “being a ‘SMART VEGAN’ helps anticipate diseases with the help of nutrition care plan”(p.2). Despite the fact that a veggie lover way of life is hard to pursue, a person should always take care of what they are eating especially the number of vitamins they consume daily, or else they would have serious health risks to their body. A vegetarian can find many ways to consume nutrient B12 without the need for animal products.

All in all, the main point is to say that eating meat is not as needed as everyone has been told; there are many ways to be healthy without any problems. Stop eating meat all together might be hard, but it is better. As such, veggie lovers, have a more beneficial way of life than someone who eats everything. Vegetarians have less odds of being exposed to any poison and being harmed to any disease, diabetes, and stoutness. Then again, veggie lovers don't get an essential nutrient B12, however they can eat fortified nourishments and take nutrient B12 supplements.
