In the summer preceding my entry into 9th grade, my family and I found ourselves grappling with difficulties both in and out of school. As the weight of the past year pressed upon us, my mother and I sought respite through the idea of a trip. Various destinations were considered, ranging from Vermont to Maine and Pennsylvania. Almost settling on Hershey, Pennsylvania, for its amusement park and attractions, fate intervened when I stumbled upon an advertisement for Universal in Florida.
Enthusiastically, I delved into researching plane tickets, hotels, and rental cars.
Discovering an enticing deal, we seized the opportunity and promptly booked our trip. The whimsical notion of sharing this escapade with a friend materialized when, in jest, my friend Chris expressed, "Take me too!" Amused, I shared this with my mother, who, to my surprise, responded with a lighthearted "Why not?" A mere two days later, Chris and his mom arrived at my doorstep, bags packed, ready to embark on an unexpected journey to Florida.
