With thousands of visitors per day, Madame Tussaud's is probably the most famous wax museum, with branches all over the world. It has grown to become a major tourist attraction in London, displaying waxworks of historical and royal figures, as well as others celebrities such as actors, pop stars or scientists. Its history begins back in 1777 when Marie Tussaud created her first wax figure, Voltaire. However, it wasn't until 1835 when Marie opened a museum in Baker Street. Fifty years later, Marie's grandson moved the location of the museum in the exact same place it is now, on Marylebone Road.
Looking as a huge dome, Marie Tussaud's is even more impressive as you approach it.
The crowd you are bound to see waiting in line is just another proof that visiting the museum is an extraordinary experience. Stepping intro Madame Tussaud's is like entering an imaginary world where all your dreams may come true: you can meet every celebrity you idolize, from Hollywood celebrities to royalty.
If you wonder how it would be like when the Grammys met the British Awards, you can see it happen in the Music Megastars section. From Michael Jackson to Leona Lewis or Justin Bieber, they are all there to welcome the visitors to their world.
Of course, a royal appointment with the Queen or the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge is unmissable. For some people, celebrities are common place. So, deep within the Chamber of Horrors, things take a scarier turn. There you can see a maximum security prison that has been taken over by its unhinged inmates.
They want nothing else but to give nightmares to the visitors.
But in order to enter Scream, your vocals chords have to be warmed up just in case you need to scream loud enough for someone to hear you. These scenes are set up by live actors, just in case someone things that wax figures could not be scary enough. All in all, Madame Tussaud's is an amazing museum because it allows the visitors, even if for a few hours, to be a part of a world they can only dream of in their daily life.
