Desiree’s Baby is a short story by Kate Chopin. It was first published in 1893 in a collection of short stories called Bayou Folk. The story is about a woman named Desiree who gives birth to a baby that is black. Desiree does not know how this could have happened because she and her husband are both white. The story follows Desiree as she tries to figure out what to do with her baby. The story ends with a tragedy.
