Undoubtedly, one of the most valued and admirable relationship is that of a true and loyal friend. In my opinion, if one is fortunate enough to come across a person that is unquestionably reliable and trustworthy and they have found themselves a valuable friend. In order to reciprocate this friendship, one must actively consider the ways in which this relation can be continuously nurtured. In order to maintain a friendship, we must first begin with being loyal and trustworthy with one another, respecting each other’s opinions and beliefs, and be willing to set aside our egos.
Loyalty helps find individuals by providing a supportive relation to people can easily depend on one another.
Loyalty alone cannot be established without a level of trust and understanding between the individuals. Establishing loyalty and trust helps maintain your friendship because it requires one to make the person personal decision to undoubtedly support another individual’s decision and, in return, for that individual to reciprocate with the same level of support.
Friendship is all about checks and balances and a friendship can be lost if such order is not maintained by both parties involved. We must actively appreciate the companionship by offering the same level of trust and loyalty that we receive and not use it for any personal gain besides friendship.
Furthermore, a friendship requires mutual respect in terms of their opinions and cultural differences. We all come from various backgrounds, religions, and upbringings that formulate our own unique thoughts and perspective to nurture a budding friendship, one must be mindful
not to stereotype another individual or criticize one’s way of life.
A true friendship should have known from judgmental or negative comments that result in an overall bad energy between two individuals, resulting in arguments, or worse, a complete loss of the respect for one another. A relationship that lacks respect cannot blossom into friendship because either one or both individuals involved do not feel comfortable being there true selves or sharing their personal thoughts and opinions.
Lastly, the inability to cast aside our individual egos can be detrimental to a friendship. Pride and arrogance must be willingly illuminated when your friendship reaches some sort of disagreement or trial. For example, admitting one’s mistake avoiding unnecessary confrontation over trivial matters can mend and foster existing friendships. On the other hand, an ego that prevents one to except his or her mistake constrain a true friendship. One must not be selfish by refusing to acknowledge and apologize for the Falls they personally made. Instead in a friendship, one should be willing to accept their mistake and apologized simply for the sake of strengthening and maintaining that bond.
In conclusion, if friendship is nurtured by an established level of loyalty, and trust, a mutual respect between those involved, and ability for both individuals to be able to set aside the Eagles. One can feel inspired to foster their existing friendship by remembering the renowned author and educator, Helen Keller, who won said,” I would rather walk with a friend in the dark, then alone in the light.” Therefore, we should appreciate our existing friendships and learn in ways which friendship can be maintained. Friend should feel trusted and respected by one another, while being able to recognize mistakes made so that the relationship continues to thrive, and they form and everlasting Bond which has no room for ego, negativity, or unimportant disagreements.
