Favorite places are unique. They provide a certain comfort that cannot be generated anywhere else. When the stress of the day has got you down, your favorite place is there for you to cheer you up. Some people choose vacation spots or restaurants as their favorite place, which can be unfortunate for them since they aren't there that often. Favorite places can be used for many things. They help us think, we feel at peace, and they make us happy. I would say then, that the closer your favorite place is to you, the better.
That is why, if faced to pick a place to be at the moment, I would choose my house. I believe that a reason a certain place is somebody's favorite is that it makes them feel relaxed, and being at home is my best way to do that. When I have a long day, I love to go home and unwind. My favorite experience from this is that feeling I get from taking off my shoes after being on my feet all day.
At home, I can peacefully rest on my couch while watching a good TV show, which to me is my nirvana. I feel so unhooked from the struggles of day-to-day life, getting to lie in that perfect state between being awake and asleep.
My home is a welcoming and secure environment that is perfect for both entertaining guests and just a quiet night of pure relaxation.
My home is a place where I find myself feeling safe and loved. The interior and exterior of my house is very unique, because my dad designed it, and I am very grateful to live where I do.
As I cruise down Riverton Drive I pass by my old high school, James River. Before turning onto my street, just ahead is the entrance to Robious Landing Park where I spent a lot of my childhood memories. Winding down my peaceful street I reach my residence. As I pull into the beautiful cobblestone drive-way, I always admire the unique formation of my home.
The exterior of my house is all brick and the yard is landscaped with beautiful trees and shrubs. As I get out of my car, I routinely make my way to the back door, walking under the tangle vine arbor onto the stone patio. The patio is made for outdoor gatherings and has comfortable furniture to lounge on. It also has a large stone fireplace and a grill for barbeques. My favorite part about my backyard is our garden, where we grow fresh fruit and vegetables to eat.
Entering through the back door is the living room. The sudden aroma of my house smells of cinnamon and is always comforting. My living room consists of my dad’s favorite leather chair, a substantial love seat, a delightful cream colored couch, and a 64 inch flat screen TV. This is where my family and I like to take a load off after a long day. If I had to describe my houses theme it would be fall mainly because of its tasteful decorations and calming color scheme. All of the creams, browns, and reds make it that way.
On the wall in my living room hang October, November, and January paintings. These months stand for me, my dad, and my older sister’s birthdays. A large arch way opens up to the wine colored kitchen area, which is my favorite place in my house. The grayish granite marble tops blend very well with the wine colored walls the dark brown cabinets. Off to the side of the kitchen, large windows surrounded the kitchen table displaying the backyard.
The five step application process of the walls in the tall, two story foyer has the various colors of copper, gold, beige, purple, and cream. The staircase leading to the second floor consists of 15 stairs, and a beautiful brown banister. The second floor of my home includes four bedrooms, three bathrooms, and a laundry room. Walking down the long wide hallway, the walls are covered with oil painting made by artistic step mother. The third room on the right is my sanctuary, also known as my bedroom.
My pretty and pink bedroom is filled with warmth and peace. My queen size bed is heaven to me because it is so comfortable and it is full of decretive pillows that I have collected over several years. Above my bed hangs a dream catcher and a tie-dye tapestry, which I handcrafted myself.
I have many posters of my favorite music that take up my pink walls. I chose to paint my walls pink to match my blush down filled comforter. My bathroom is shared with my step sister, which leads to her room on the other side. It is perfect because we both have our own sinks, and multiple drawers to stock up on our toiletries.
The third floor is one of my favorite rooms in the whole house. When I was a little girl it was known as our play room, but now it is more of a party room. This is the perfect place for me and my friends to hang out. When you step foot on the khaki carpets, to your left, there is a full sized bathroom, and to your right, there is a small closet that’s stores our holiday decor. In front of you, the large spacious room includes a pool table, a ping pong table, and four beds for guests to sleep in.
My house not only symbolizes my family and me as people, but it also holds many memories. I am very lucky and internally grateful to have such a safe and nurturing place of residence and such a loving family to share it with.
We share all that we had enjoyed or suffered during the day. We keep our home clean and tidy. Every thing is kept in place. I am proud of my home Home is the place where we are born and live. It is the sweetest place in the world. When we sense danger elsewhere we find safety in our home. When there is joy, we share it with other members of our home. Everybody loves home.
