The National University of Advanced Legal Studies Kochi conducted the exam at around 65 examination centers across India. Furthermore, 18 participating national law universities organize the CLAT exam on a rotational basis. As regards minimum percentage of marks in the qualifying examination (i.e., 10+2) for CLAT UG Program, the candidates must have secured: Forty-five percent (45%) marks in case of candidates belonging to Unreserved/OBC/Especially Abled Persons (SAP) and other categories, and Forty Percent (40%) marks in case of candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST) categories. Candidates who are appearing in the qualifying examination in March/April are also eligible to appear in CLAT 2019 online examination. However, they must produce an evidence of their passing the qualifying examination at the time of admission. Failing this condition shall cancel their right to admission.

The candidate should submit their result of the qualifying examination (i.e., 10+2) at the time of admission. Failing to fulfill this requirement will result in candidate's ineligibility for admission to the Course. In case of equal marks, the break of the tie shall be by the following procedure and order as under: Higher marks in the component /section on legal aptitude in the CLAT 2019 exam; Higher age; A computerized draw of lots.

Eligibility For CLAT 2019 PG Program

The candidates must have a minimum percentage of marks in the qualifying examination [i.e. LL.B./Five-Year Integrated LL.B. (Hons.)/any other equivalent exam] as under:

  • Fifty-five percent (55%) marks in case of candidates belonging to Unreserved/OBC/Especially Abled Persons (SAP) and other categories
  • Fifty percent (50%) marks in case of candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST) categories.

The CLAT 2019 aspirant must have passed/appeared in the final semester/final year examination of the qualifying examination on the date of his/her admission. In case of CLAT 2019 aspirants, who have appeared in the qualifying examination, he/she may submit his/her final result of qualifying examination within the time frame prescribed by the respective University/Institute. Universities/institutes will provide provisional admissions to such candidates. In case of equal marks, the break of the tie shall be by procedure and order as under:

  • Higher age;
  • A computerized draw of lots.

There is no upper age limit for appearing in CLAT 2019.

Syllabus of CLAT 2019 UG Program - Details

Scope and coverage of questions under different subject areas for the CLAT 2019 UG Program:

  • English including comprehension for CLAT 2019 UG Program: The English section tests the CLAT 2019 candidate's proficiency in English. It is based on comprehension passages and grammar. The comprehension section assesses understanding of the passage, its central theme, and meanings of words used therein and more, of the candidates. In addition, the grammar section requires correction of incorrect grammatical sentences, filling of blanks in sentences with appropriate words, etc.
  • General Knowledge and Current Affairs for CLAT 2019 UG Program: The evaluation of General Knowledge is based on the general awareness, including static general knowledge. Also, it includes questions on current affairs to test the candidate's knowledge of both national and international current affairs.
  • Mathematics for CLAT 2019 UG Program: Mathematics section tests the candidate’s knowledge of elementary mathematics, i.e., math taught up to 10th Class/Standard.
  • Legal Aptitude for CLAT 2019 UG Program: This legal aptitude section tests the candidate’s interest towards the study of law, research aptitude and problem-solving ability. Also, the said propositions are applied to the questions including legal propositions (described in the paper) and to a set of facts. Though some propositions may not be “true” in the real sense, candidates will have to assume the “truth” of these propositions and answer the questions accordingly.
  • Logical Reasoning for CLAT 2019 UG Program: The logical reasoning section tests the candidate’s ability to identify patterns, logical links and rectify illogical arguments. The pattern of the question paper for admission to the Post-Graduate Course for CLAT-2019 is as under:

Cutoff Reviews for the latest CLAT exam

Most of the students who took the exam shared that the exam was good but it was extremely lengthy. Due to this many students were not able to complete their CLAT exam on time. Procedure for filling up the Application Form for CLAT 2019

The application form for CLAT 2019 shall be filled Online only. Hence, applicants will have to access the application form, from CLAT 2019 website (www.clat.ac.in). They must register themselves at the CLAT 2019 online application webpage by using personal e-mail ID and mobile number.

To register an application for CLAT 2019, you need to choose the tab "CLICK HERE FOR NEW REGISTRATION." This then requires entering your Name, Email-id, and Mobile number. As a result, the system will generate a Provisional Registration Number and Password. An Email and SMS will be sent to indicate the Provisional Registration number and Password.

CLAT 2019 Candidates have to use this Provisional Registration Number and Password to log in to fill the Online Application form for CLAT 2019. Note: Since his/her name appears in the Certificates/Mark sheets/Identity proofs, a candidate needs to spell his/her name correctly and the names of his/her parents in the CLAT 2019 application. Though, he/she must be careful that any change/alteration found may disqualify his/her candidature for the CLAT 2019 exam.

Documents to be uploaded with the Online Application for CLAT 2019

CLAT 2019 Candidates should upload the scanned copies of the documents for CLAT 2019. Here are the guidelines provided in the online application webpage that they need to keep in mind while filling in the application form for CLAT 2019:

  • Passport size recent photograph (Front-facing)
  • Signature of the candidate
  • The scanned copy of the certificate in PDF format issued by the competent authority to support the claim of Specially Abled Persons (SAP).

CLAT 2019 students must submit the original certificates/documents issued by the competent authority, as specified in the brochure, to the allotted University (in the form and manner) for CLAT 2019. Students must do this at the time of admission to the CLAT 2019 program, as specified by the respective universities. The candidate need not attest his/her photograph and signature while submitting the CLAT 2019 Online Application Form. He/she can fill up the required details in the CLAT 2019 application form and save it before finally submitting it.

Some Tips on Filling the Form

Students must not send any hard copy of the filled in online application form, to the CLAT office. We advise the candidates that they submit their CLAT 2019 application form only after they have provided accurate information in that form. No alteration/editing in the online CLAT 2019 application form can be done after successful submission /final submission of the form. The candidates must read the instructions carefully and furnish correct and authentic information in the CLAT 2019 application form. The concerned CLAT 2019 authorities can cancel the provisional admission to the candidate, with immediate effect without assigning any reason, in case they find the information furnished at any stage of the application, examination and admission process to be false or incorrect. This is also true if there is any discrepancy or mismatch between the information furnished by the candidate in the relevant section and the certificates/documents produced at the time of admission.

The candidature of the CLAT 2019

Candidate can also get disqualified for further admission to the NLUs by the CLAT Office. The SAP candidates must upload the scanned copy (in PDF format) of the Disability Certificate showing the percentage of disability issued by the competent authority in the 'Document Upload' section of the CLAT 2019 online application form.

The SAP Candidates requiring SCRIBE must specify in the relevant column of the CLAT 2019 online application form whether the candidate would arrange a SCRIBE on his/her own or the same is to be provided by the CLAT Office. The candidate shall fill his/her preference order for all nineteen NLUs at the time of CLAT 2019 online application itself. The authorities don't allow any change in the preference once the candidate submits the CLAT 2019 form.

CLAT 2019 Application Fee / Previous Years Question Papers' Fee

  1. The application fee for General/OBC/SAP and other category candidates: Rs. 4,000/-
  2. The application fee for SC/ST category candidates: Rs. 3,500/-
  3. The cost of previous years' question papers is Rs.500/- (not included in the CLAT 2019 application fee of Rs. 4,000/- or Rs. 3,500/- as the case may be.)
  4. The candidates themselves will have to bear the bank transaction charges for remitting the CLAT 2019 fee online

Mode of Payment of Application Fee

Students can pay the application fee for CLAT 2019 either online or by the online-generated bank challan. For payment of application fee, candidates must log in to the CLAT 2019 Online Application Web page. Candidates can pay the CLAT 2019 Application fee online through net-banking /debit card/credit card/ pay wallet/ RuPay etc. or through offline mode by way of online- generated bank challan.

Similarly, students can make offline payments for CLAT 2019 after registering themselves and generating challans online. Students must take the printouts of the online-generated challans to the relevant banks for payment. Students must make the CLAT 2019 offline payments in CASH only.

The CLAT 2019 aspirants will have to bear additional bank transaction charges if any. This can be, in case, they opt for remitting the fee through net-banking payment gateways or any of the other modes of payment, including challan payments.

Points Regarding Submission of Application Forms

Students must finally submit their CLAT 2019 application forms, complete in all respects and after payment of fees. They must do this on or before 31st March 2019 (11:59 P.M.) which is tentative. Authorities won't consider incomplete application forms.

The CLAT 2019 aspirants shall fill and submit the application form well in time to avoid last minute hassles. The CLAT Office or the organizing University shall in no case be responsible for any incomplete information or misinformation or inconvenience faced by the candidate in this regard.

For any information relating to the nineteen NLUs associated with CLAT 2019, the candidate may refer to the e-brochure of the respective Institutions. These e-brochures will be available at the CLAT-2019 website.

Points Regarding Downloading of Admit Cards

The CLAT 2019 aspirant can download the Admit Card/Hall ticket by logging into his/her LOGIN account from 20th April 2019 (subject to change). The candidates shall take a print-out of this Admit Card/Hall Ticket and carry the same to the Examination Hall.

The CLAT 2019 aspirants must read the instructions on the Admit Card carefully and carry all the requisite documents to the Examination Hall.

Points Regarding NRI Seats

To the NRI/NRI Sponsored/foreign national seats’ aspirants of CLAT 2019, we advise referring to the e-brochures as well as the websites of the respective NLUs for more details. All NRI/NRI Sponsored Category candidates have to appear for the CLAT 2019 examination for those NLUs where such category is admitted through CLAT 2019 rankings and not directly by the concerned Universities. However, the Foreign Nationals need not appear for the CLAT 2019 examination and they shall directly apply to the concerned Universities.

CLAT 2019 aspirant shall submit the appropriate certificate(s)/documents to the concerned participating university, during their admission, for availing a seat of the NRI /NRI Sponsored category.

Authorities allow only Indian Nationals/NRIs/NRI Sponsored Candidates to appear in the CLAT-2019 Examination. They don’t permit Foreign Nationals to appear in the CLAT-2019. However, the Foreign Nationals desirous of seeking admission to any of the CLAT 2019 UG/PG courses in any of the participating NLUs may directly contact the concerned University having seats reserved for Foreign Nationals.

Declaration of Result

CLAT-2019 result will be published on 31st May, 20l9 (tentative) in the CLAT website (www.clat.ac.in).

Admission Process

The centralized online counseling conducted by the CLAT Office completes the admissions to UG and PG programs in participating universities under CLAT-2019. The basis of allotment of seats shall be 'merit-cum-preference', i.e., the CLAT 2019 Rank, the order of preference given by the candidate in the CLAT 2019 application form and the category / categories selected by the candidate in the online application form and the number of seats and their division/break-up as available in each of the participating NLU.

Online counseling shall start after the declaration of CLAT-2019 results. The entire procedure shall be completed as per the CLAT 2019 calendar which is available on the CLAT website.

Students can access this information from the official website of CLAT 2019 and also from the websites of the participating NLUs. The CLAT 2019 aspirants are, therefore, advised to thoroughly go through the rules, policies and the fee structure of the participating NLUs. They must follow this before filling in the CLAT 2019 application form for UG as well as PG courses. They must also follow this for the NRI/NRI Sponsored and Foreign National seats.

Also, there can be some events of unforeseen incidents. Like, for example, cancellation of a CLAT 2019 Test city or center. Also, there can be an insufficient or extra number of CLAT 2019 aspirants opting to appear from a Test Centre. In such cases, the Convenor, CLAT-2019 reserves the right to cancel such a City/Centre and shift the applicant to another City/ Centre.

To claim the benefit of reservation, the CLAT 2019 aspirant must produce relevant certificates prescribed by the Government of India/State Government. The certificates may also be required by the respective NLU at the time of admission, as notified by them.

More Information on Seats

Participating National Law Universities in CLAT 2019 reserve the right to change the total number of seats and break-up of seats as per their policy before the final allotment. The reservation policy for CLAT 2019 is subject to change as decided by the concerned Government from time to time. If a CLAT 2019 aspirant has filled in more than one online application form, only his/her last online application form will be considered. In such cases, the application fee for the previous CLAT 2019 application forms will not be refunded.

The allotment of seats and the offer for admission under CLAT-2019 shall be provisional. It is expected that this shall not create any right of admission in favor of any CLAT 2019 aspirant.
