Animal Cruelty - Nationwide Problem Rapidly Growing Today

Many are the organizations that are trying to stop this problem from escalating at this rate. From the implementation of new laws and regulations to thousands of people protesting on the streets for a change in society. Every day, violence is more prominent in our society and we can see this because of all the events that happened at our surroundings. Every year, millions of animals are being beaten, tested and kill because of heartless people.

There are many ways in which animal cruelty can be done; some of the most common forms are scientific research, abandonment and mistreatment.

But to understand how long animal cruelty has been part of human’s society, we need to go back as far as the 12th century, where fighting dogs against wild boar and bulls was a popular sport in Europe (Learningtogive.org). Animals have come a long way, which is understandable since it took decades for Blacks and women to claim their rights.

Unfortunately, animals do not have a voice to protect themselves. Animal cruelty is defined as the acts of violence or neglect perpetrated against animals (Learningtogive.org). People have different feelings for animals; many looks upon animals as companions while others view animals as a means of benefit, which in both way is completely fine.

What is not fine is abusing of it. Although humans often deny this as way to sustain our needs, this still does not give us the right to abuse from animals. We are a hypocrite society because we feel proud of being a nation that grants liberty and rights to their citizens but not to animals in zoo, a nation that supports and promotes equality but put us first at any situation, a nation that ended tyranny, but still takes advantage of those “inferior” to us.

In fact, animals and human are very much alike.

Animal testing is one of the most controversial among many people due to the pros and cons of it. More than 5 billion tax dollars are invested in animal experiments every year (Raghuvanshi 3). Many are the people who claim this issue as unnecessary. Animal testing plays a big role in human’s everyday life.
