The Cask Of Amontillado Literary Analysis

I consider Beowulf to be more than just a good hero. I consider Beowulf to be an amazing hero in the poem. To me, a true hero or heroine possesses many characteristics that really describes who they are. Beowulf possesses many characteristics including courage, loyalty, bravery, and dedication. These traits can help make any good hero become well known and heavily remembered. Beowulf was so loyal to everyone in the kingdom of Danes that he wanted to do everything he could to protect them from danger.

In the poem, Beowulf fights two very dangerous creatures which are Grendal, and the monsters. In the poem, Beowulf uses a special dagger like sword to defeat Grendal and restore piece to the kingdom. That hope was short lived was shortlived after Beowulf finds out there is a deadly monster who is willing to destroy the kingdom and everyone in it. Beowulf still took on the challenge to fight this deadly monster even if it meant possible death.

While Beowulf did end up defeating the monster, he did end up taking his life with him as he ends up dying at the end of the poem. Even though this tragic calamity occurred, his characteristic traits were never forgotten by everyone in the kingdom.

Gardner made the decision to use Grendal as a narrator because Grendal underwent a depressing past in the story that it allows Grendal to express to us as the readers how he felt during this time of his life. The way that Grendal’s status as a monster reflect the way he tells the story is he explains how he became a monster in the first place.

In some instances people become who they are based on the environment they were raised in, and their lifestyle at home. Grendal’s mother in the story, was not the worlds greatest person. In the story, she conesecutivly ignores Grendal’s calls for attention and help which is absolutely heartbreaking. Yes, my opinion od Grendal definitely changes after reading his point of view after reading the poem Beowulf. In the poem Beowulf, we see Grendal as this evil monster who tried to defeat Beowulf and destroy him and the kingdom of Danes. In Grendal, we see a completely different side of Grendal. Grendal is more depressed in his story as he lived a very depressing past. We all know the perfect life does not exist however nobody should live the life that Grendal lived which made him become the monster he is in the first place. (210 words)

The eyes in the sandman have represent multiple symbols. The first symbol the eyes represent in the sandman are the spiritual aspects from Christianity. In the religions of Christianity, the eyes represent faith and hope in The Sandman. If only those eyes can still exist today so they can help the people who are always doubting themselves and putting a damper on their hopes for no reason. These eyes could help to always have hope because the potential outcome of many things is always 50/50 and you never want to doubt yourself even when you feel like giving up. I feel this way too sometimes even though I consider myself to be a pretty confident person. Ultimately, the eyes in The Sandman give the message of being strong and pushing through when you feel it feels hopeless. The second symbol. the eyes of the sandman represent are the Egyptian rituals of defense and existance These 2 beliefs are things that everyone deserves to have especially during the difficult circumstances we are going through. In The Sandman, the eyes were known to be the portal for inspiration. Which is true because the look in our eyes can often describe how we are feeling internally.

The first form of irony used in the cask of amontillado, is Verbal irony. Verbal irony, is a form of irony that is used when someone tells you the opposite of what you are trying to tell them. In the cask of amontillado, Montressor uses verbal irony to mask who he really is from Fortunado. This is a rather unique way of hiding your true self from anyone that I would not even consider doing. In my opinion, nobody should ever be verbally ironic towards one another as it could potentially cause people to think of you in a bad way. The second type of irony used in the cask of amontillado is Situational irony. This type of occurs when things do not go how they are supposed to. An example of situational irony in the cask of amontillado, occurs when Fortunado disguises himself as a harlequin instead of dressing up in a colorful overcoat and cone-shaped hat with bells hanging all over it. The third form of irony used in the cask of amontillado, is Dramatic irony. This type of irony, occurs when people are caught off guard with their surrondings. An example of dramatic irony through the cask of amontillado literary analysis occurs at the beginning of the play where Montressor explains to us as readers how he will seek vengeance on Fortunado.
