Since many of my articles auto-post to my Twitter account, I often get comments about my seasonal material which is sent out of season or ahead of time.
I can understand these comments sometimes coming from random followers who may not know as much about me or what I do. However, recently I’ve been getting them from people who are well aware that I am a freelance writer who specializes in online content and Internet marketing.
Some of these comments are snarky where others are downright rude.
I will admit, I’m not a bit offended by them although it does make me laugh that people would mock me and have no idea that I have a secret they know nothing about. When I send a Christmas article in July or August, this is intentional. When I post a back to school article at the end of a school year, it’s not a mistake.
There is a perfectly good reason why I write seasonal articles ahead of time. I don’t believe there should be any limit on when you write these articles. When you write them early and you write great articles, it gives you time to get the articles out there, get them indexed for the proper keywords and even have them get picked up by publishers.
While individuals on Google and other search engines might not be specifically looking for Halloween topics in March, it doesn’t mean that no one is looking for this content.
Publishers often look months in advance for their content. It also means that when Halloween does come along, I already have batches of articles that are ranked and rated well and that are still performing well in the search engines. This places me at the top over people struggling to get their seasonal articles written and published on time just before the holiday approaches.
