Rising prices have become an acute problem these days, making it difficult for everyone to make ends meet. It has forced people to live a miserable life, living from hand to mouth. Necessities are being sold at exorbitant prices. The hardest hit are the common man, i.e., the middle-class and the poor people. Due to the price rise, the purchase of essential commodities such as pulses, rice, sugar, and medicines are beyond the reach of most people. Not only essential commodities, but gasoline, crude oil, and diesel prices are also increasing day by day, leading to rising energy prices.
Oil and food prices are causing inflation, leaving people feeling disappointed with what comes in their hands.
Earlier, it was said that the poor could have chapati and dal in their food, but now they cannot even afford two meals a day. One of the main causes of rising prices is the population growth. The population of our country is increasing at an alarming rate, and hence, the demand for products is also increasing.
Other factors contributing to rising prices are a shortfall in production, rising global population, an ineffective distribution system, wastage, expenditure on luxuries, etc. The effects of rising prices on the common man are limited availability of commodities and necessities, and a single salary is not enough to run a household. Modern living essentials have become a luxury for many people, and the poor are unable to buy daily food intake. There is a strong need for financial assistance to the poor, subsidies, and increased productivity to overcome the problem.
