Who Is Melanthius In The Odyssey?

Melanthius is a servant in the house of Odysseus who is loyal to the suitors. He is a goatherd and often helps the suitors by providing them with weapons and mocking Odysseus and his loyal servants. Melanthius also insults and abuses the disguised Odysseus when he comes to the palace seeking information about the suitors. However, in the end, Melanthius is punished for his disloyalty when he is tortured and killed by Odysseus and his loyal servants.
