In Homer's epic poem "The Odyssey," there are around 108 suitors who compete for Penelope's hand in marriage. These suitors are noble and wealthy men from Ithaca and neighboring islands who take advantage of Odysseus's absence to try and win over Penelope and take control of his kingdom. They are depicted as greedy and immoral, wasting Odysseus's wealth and mistreating his servants. In the end, they are all killed by Odysseus when he returns to Ithaca and regains his throne.
