Octavius was the adopted son of Caesar.
Octavius is related to Caesar through adoption. Gaius Julius Caesar was a prominent Roman politician, military general, and historian. He is best known for his conquests in Gaul and his eventual rise to power as dictator of Rome. However, Caesar's life was cut short when he was assassinated in 44 BCE by a group of senators who feared his growing tyranny. Before his death, Caesar had named his great-nephew Octavius as his heir and adopted son. Octavius, who was only 18 at the time of Caesar's death, became the inheritor of Caesar's wealth, power, and political influence. He also took on the name Gaius Julius Caesar Octavianus.
