Educational organizations have been putting all efforts into providing sophisticated academic programs for training highly qualified students; however, plagiarism could put this goal in a severe jeopardy. “Plagiaius” means “kidnapper”, is a Latin word which plagiarism is originated from it. (Dhammi & Haq, 2016). “Plagiarism is the appropriation of another person’s ideas, processes, results, or words without giving appropriate credit and usually claiming it to be one’s own. It is useless, meaningless, unethical, and forbidden” (Bili?-Zulle, Frkovi?, Turk, A?man, & Petrove?ki, 2005).

The Plagiarism is taking into account more and more in the past decades especially for not-native speakers. While several reasons are attributed for plagiarism, linguistic problems and cultural values are considered as the most important reasons, which resulted in designing computer plagiarism detection software.


Linguistic problems

Plagiarism likely arises due to linguistic problems as the most important barriers for making effective communication. In specific, not-native speakers suffered from linguistic problems while taking part in a foreign language academic program where they are under an overwhelming pressure by not only high volume of assignments but also time constraint, which exacerbate the situation.

In this situation, not-native speakers worry about the quality of assignments, and also meet the deadlines. Therefore, they mostly plagiarize as the easiest way to improve the quality of assignments on the one hand and saving the time on the other hand (Cameron, Zhao, & McHugh, 2012).. Developing the computer sciences make it easier for abusing the source; however, this development also resulted in design software, which could detect plagiarism in order to ascertain the authorship of the academic essays. Nowadays, there is an unlimited access internet that mostly resulted in a free access to the widespread sources and it is likely to misuse the information by “copy and paste” the information (Bili?-Zulle et al., 2005). As a consequence, the computer detection soft wares which are designed by correlation techniques, and they were mostly equipped with a vast database with which they can find the similarity among the text (Bili?-Zulle et al., 2005). Turnittin, EVE, and WCopyfind are the most mose nominate ones. The vast use of plagiarism detection soft wares in academic programs and giving proper awareness of using them to the student causes to reduce the intention of student because of severe upcoming risks.


The Plagiarism has been taking into consideration by academic organization for the past decades. Not-native speakers are highly concerned as a group, which plagiarize because of the severe pressure of taking part, which surrounds them in a foreign degree program. Furthermore, cultural values, which refer to the environment of a society, and values and respect to the rules have direct effect on the wiliness of student to plagiarize. However, computer sciences has tried to reduce the rate of plagiarism by widely use of plagiarism detection software in the academic organization, as the student are aware of checking their assignments by plagiarism detection software on the one hand and the subsequences after getting caught.
