Lennie’s American Dream is to tend rabbits and pet the other animals that they would get. Lennie during the whole story is obsessed with soft and furry stuff, during the beginning of the story he pets a dead rat, him and George both left the city weed because Lennie grabs a girls dress and gets scared when she tells him to let go and he didn’t let go so they hid and left, then he gets a dog and he accidentally kills it because it was so small. In the text, it says “ Lennie spoke craftily, ‘tell me - like you done before.’ ‘Tell you what?’ ‘about the rabbits.”(Steinbeck 13). Lennie can only think about rabbits, every time someone tries to talk to Lennie he just brings up the rabbits.
