The letter never arrives, but Romeo assumes that his beloved is dead, and now he gets a poison to kill him as soon as possible. Romeo travels back to Verona and to the cemetery where Juliet is, he swallows the poison just minutes before Juliet wakes, and when she wakes up she finds her loved one dead. She takes her own life there and then.As it ended in such a tragedy, the families decided to make peace.

Juliet is obviously a very central figure in the movie. She comes from this rich and wealthy family, but she cannot have a simple life. She seems like She has always been told what to do and what to say, and her parents have literally planned her whole future without her knowing. It must be hard as a fourteen-year-old to be told that unless you marry a man you have met once or twice, you will no longer be the daughter of your father. Especially when you're all secretly married. She finds a way to solve her problems. Only things don't go exactly as planned.

Romeo is also a central figure in the movie. He comes from a rich family too, but his family is in a feud with Juliet`s Family. Although the families are fighting, he is not interested in violence, his one interest is love. Romeo is handsome, intelligent, and sensitive. Though impulsive and immature, his idealism and passion make him a very likable character. Romeo and Juliet talk in a poetic way. They are very different from the other characters because the other characters care about the feud much more than them. Both Romeo and Juliet is uninterested in the fight. Instead of supporting their own family, they give loyalty to each other. Both of them is young. In Juliet you can see her suddenly maturity, but Romeo on the other hand have violent outbursts.

Father Lawrence is the one who gave his blessing for Romeo and Juliet during their wedding ceremony. His intentions was to end the feud between the Montagues and the Capulets. He was the one who came up with the plan for Romeo and Juliet

Mercutio was Romeo’s most trusted friend. Mercutio could talk some sense into Romeo, and could get him to do anything. For example when he talked Romeo into going to the costume party when he were sad over his breakup with Rosaline. Mercutio's death is very important to the plot because it is where the movie changes from comedy to tragedy.

I think we are meant to learn that despite what the situations are, you can always meet and get to know someone, whether it's an enemy or someone else and that we always should check our mailbox in case you lover decides to take a sleep potion.

I think Luhrman’s trick of modernizing the setting makes the message clearer than the other option because the movie is from 20th century so modernizing the movie makes the young audience understand more of the movie. In a Shakespearean play, tragedy is brought to the audience very differently. The definition of a tragedy will be a catastrophic event or accident that leads to one or more protagonists dying. The audience in Shakespeare's play is made to make the audience feel fear, pity, seals and a series of waste and loss of life. Shakespeare delivers this tragedy through many events, most of which are drawn by fate and inevitability and others from those who participated in the circumstance that led to the end of Romeo and Juliet. His use of language, themes, images, motifs and symbols also has a profound effect on how he builds up against the tragic circumstances of the play. The movie is probably made for same reaction.
